Its called the Mannyweight class. I belive Pac should either stay at 140 or come up to 147. This catchweight thing is creating a Mannyweight and gives Pac an unfair advantage forcing fighters to be weight drained, either Campaign at 147 legitemately or stay at 140! what do you guys think?

I always thought the light and super divisions were brought in for exactly that reason.

Whether Floyd decides to take a **** before the weigh in has no bearing on the result of a fight with Pacquiao.

The worst one is Malignaggi vs Diaz.... 138.5?

    FFS!

At the end of the day mate it sucks but what can we do? Pacqiuao is where the money is at so people will fight on his and Arum's terms. I don't see why he can't weigh in @ 143 and let his possible opponents weigh in @ 147, though. If you wanna fight at welterweight then let your opponent weigh in at the weight they normally do. This is boxing, though, so it shouldn't suprise anyone. Politirix still permeate the sport, sadly.

Would you rather want pacman to stay at 140 lbs and do some small fights or would you rather want for pacman to retire now instead of giving us big exciting historical fights even if is fought in a catchweights?

If you're not a hater, you choose..

If you are, then don't bother responding..

Welcome to boxing. As an initial knowledge bonus for you in this sport, humans tend to loose punching power when they go up in their natural weight class. For that, it's just fair for the other fighter to give up 2-3 lbs to close the power gap a bit.

Fans, critics, the common sense of practicality and boxing economic business suggests that - Manny Pacquiao fights elite fighters. Sadly and coincidentally, those ones are in 147.

Exactly thats the problem, excitement over real fights?

Which one is more important for boxing???

Unfortunately it is the catchweight bull**** fights...but I would rather personally see him against Campbell at 140 or Bradley but Im a purist so there you go.

Cotto being drained, Mosley being drained, they are exciting to the casual fan who dont give a **** about the condition of the fighters and just watch it to see someone get knocked out but I like a fight to be a fair fight and hold some relevance and this is why these weight drained contests should not be happening.

As long as he is fighting fighters who are 100% then it makes for more of a spectical

Unfortunately, boxing is not only a sport but also a business and a form of entertainment. Big fights will be made if they can be made and it they are only separated by a division then a catchweight is the way to go.

In the end, Cotto and his team can always say no. If they agree to a catchweight then it means they think they can still win despite the weight. Cotto doesn't need to fight Pac, he has other options. But if he agrees then it means that Cotto thinks that the possible loss in speed and power won't greatly affect his chances against Pac. It's his choice in the end, and I'm sure he and his team knows the effects of the catchweight more than any poster here in the forums.

    You're just exaggerating dude..

If a healthy 140 lbs hatton died for a few seconds with one punch in 2 rounds and it took 8 rounds for pac to make delahoya quit, i bet the weight drained zombie delahoya that you're saying could still beat a lot of welters that night..

    You can't hit what you can't catch..:deal

That's why I prefer heavyweights. No such issues there. In those low divisions they play too much with weight. Sometimes it is who is better at manipulating his weight during the weigh-in procedure and the fight night.

How about no weight divisions so that P4P thing actually means something? Throw Wlad into the mix with Manny. Or maybe create another big guy spectacle for Floyd by having him square off with Valuev. Wouldn't it be shocking some of the wins that could be produced? David Haye KOed by Vic Darchinyan anyone?
