So what Dawson can make 168?? He offered him a fight on HBO at 175. This was a chance for Kessler and he said no.

He got a dispensation and signed with Palle at the age of 19 - because Palle was/and still is the only promoter i Denmark.

    Debut fight - lol.

    It is no tragedy,

the supermidle division has been a very weak division during the Ottke /Calzaghe years.

It had been crying out for some credible oppostion for Calzaghe/Ottke. Showtime 1st delivered Lacy on the back of some creative matchmaking creating the illusion of a monster.

Lacy Kos Robin Reid (35 shoot), 38 year Pemberton (people forgot he barely got by Omar Sheika).

Then Kessler Kod a couple of completely shot fighters in Beyer/Lucas and they have another decent rival.

    but lets not lose ourselves.

Kessler Lacy etc wouldnt have even barely fringe top 10

    during the Era

of Nunn, Mccullum Jones Eubank toney Benn Johnson Mcllelan

Which is exactly why Kessler did loads better against Calzaghe than Eubank did against a completely green version of Joe (read the scorecards - and Joe was even fighting in England in that fight), KO'd a guy (Beyer) who had beaten the guy (Woodhall) who had beaten Benn and Eubank. And TKO3 the guy (Cummings) who put Steve Collins on his @r$e.

    Get a life.

it was a top display by kessler, and a very underated fight in boxing terms, its just the genius switch of tactics by calzaghe paid dividends in the second half, calzaghe won clearly by a margin and took some great shots of kessler but he was never really hurt, kessler is pissing his career up the wall now though, bit like the alexey ignashov of boxing.

The case is that Kessler have two options, witch one do you prefer his picking:
option 1:He could stay with Mogens palle, and fighting allmost only in denmark, because palle enjoys making boxingevents in denmark. And fighting opponents that are not that risky to fight,so he can be WBA champ for years.
    OR
option 2:Try to leave promoter mogens palle,so he can sign with a promoter who is willing to back kessler up,with facing the best in the division and try to unify the belts.
And giving us fans some great fights.

    I don´t know what you pick,but i know what i pick!

I liked some of the thread until i hit point 7. You're a total idiot if you're trying to say that, which is basically completely discrediting Calzaghe. You're basically the Danish equivalent of an extreme *******

Good thread. While he's got to be assessed some responsibility for not taking control before things got out of hand, it is truly sad that he is one of the best fighters of his generation but runs the risk of being remembered as another Ottke. :verysad

    What a load of tripe.

Calzaghe beats an injured Kessler. Kessler was then critized after the fight for leaving his balls in the corner from rounds 5 through 11, and then having a "just for show" round 12, much like Zab Judah did against Mayweather.

He was also shown to be predictable, robotic, and having no ability to adapt to a change in tactics whatsoever.

Kessler's stock took a blow when Calzaghe popped his cherry but it took a bigger blow by him fighting absolute trash after the Calzaghe fight.
