Wladamir persistantly refuses to be matched with his #1 contender ;)

As long as he is boss, the two best in the world will never square off.

    Need a new #1, I think.

Yeah, it really makes sense to root for Chagaev: may his reign of Majority Decisions, TD's, endless injurie delays and boring decision victories over undeserving challengers last forever...

You know Chagaev does possess a certain tactical pattern that he's been using successfully in all of his fights. It's his double left cross.

Sanders was the only left handed opponent of Klitschko who countered his jab with his power left shots. That was a long time ago but technically not much has changed in Klitschko since.

I can see Wlad eating a few double left crosses early when he throws his jab. Because he still backs away in a straight line like he did years ago. Chagaev will have his guard high up, step forward with his front foot to force a jab from Wlad and then Chagaev will duck and will make one more sliding step forward with his right foot to unleash his double left cross "combo".

This will probably result in Wlad trying to clinch after every jab he throws. He'll do his usuall routine of pulling down the head and leaning his weight on Chagaev, which should warrant a few warnings from the ref. Maybe that will prompt Wlad to fight a little on the inside. The rounds will be close and difficult to score, as most of the action will take place in close quarters, where Wladimir doesn't like to be. If Chagaev's punches won't be enough to hurt or stop Wladimir, than the man with the best stamina will win in the end. By round 8 or 9, should Klitschko have more energy left than Chagaev, he'll be able to create a distance between himself and Ruslan and box his way to a close UD.

I see this as an exciting fight, actually. I hope I'm not mistaken.

I enjoyed the rest of your post, but tend to disagree with this.

Me too! It will be interesting to see what Chagaev has in terms of fitness and plan B.
