And that is called....? Say it... All boxers do it at some point or another, whether you admitt it or not its the truth
Look Oscar by that time was a JM so make him go below 147 was of course impossible. It's another question that he decided to go even lower and was drained as ****. I don't like catch weights. But I don't think that 144 is such a big problem for Cotto who was 146 for his last fight. Anyway I prefer to stop this catch weight madnes.
so how much credit will cotto get for beating pac at 147? pac was barely a jr. welter when he fought hatton weighing just 138 on weigh-in.
Yall muther****ers stupid. Catchweight or not, Cotto is going to be fully hydrated and way above the welterweight limit come fight night. 2-3 pounds will make NO difference after the weigh in. Oscar's problem was that he didn't try to rehydrate until moments before the fight in the locker room.
It's not cherry picking bro. Yea....all figthers do it at some point, but this is not the right senario. PAC is the smaller man, Cotto is the bigger man. Cotto could be considered cherry picking for wanting to take on the "small guy" in PAC. PAC is considered cherry picking for wanting to make the fight at a catch weight. Both men are at some disadvantage which could be seen as a smiple math law. Two negatives equal a positive or in other words they are just leveling the playing field. DLH was accused of cherry picking Forbes b/c he was the bigger man and he made forbes move up to fight him...that would be a case of cherry picking not this situation.
is pac being stupid for wanting to fight with the advantage? yall give the man a break. most of you are just pissed that you lost some money by betting on hatton and de la hoya. so to all the dimwits who say pac should fight cotto at 147 simply because he also fought dlh at 147, he fought at 147 because it was OSCAR FREAKING DE LA HOYA!!!! and got the biggest pay in his life! and by winning that fight, pac now dictates what's up because he's the top dog. the same thing why i dont think pbf will not go up to 154 again to fight williams. pbf aint touching 154 if it wasnt for de la hoya because it was where the money was. it's this simple, if pac fights at 144, he has the advantage. if cotto fights at 147, he has the advantage. then why does everybody hate pac for wanting to have the advantage? if yall still remember, this dud was fighting at 130 a few years back, and then there many here who thought that he'd get ktfod by JUAN DIAZ. now the same people are jeering on him for wanting to fight cotto at a catchweight? jeez. and cotto looked nothing close to being dehydrated at 146. so two pounds is all it takes for this fight from being a good fight to being a massacre?
147lbs or nothing, IMO. But if Cotto want's the money that's his prob... Pac will dump on him. below 147lbs.
I agree, but that's IF it's a catch weight! if you drain cotto down to 140, your calling that "leveling the playing field"?! yeah right! Do you remember how bad he fought when he fought malgnaggi?! **** and that was 3 years ago! last i looked, that doesnt get easier with age...
THis is perhaps the WORST POST I have ever seen on the entire internet. Displays a criminally bad understanding of boxing and general training methods.
No my theory that I've said a lot of times is that a fighter natural weight is the lowest weight he can make at weight in without being drained. But I don't like the theory for the very small Pacman that killed the big Hatton. Because at fight night Pac was weighting as a normal JW 148 and Hatton was a little bit heavier 152. They have about the same height and reach.
pac can make 138 without being drained. he could still make 135 easily if he needs to. so pac is still a natural 135/140 fighter. mosley and cotto could still make 147 without being drained and they are 147 fighters, simple as that. like it or not, pac is a small man fighting bigger guys.
