Manny doesn't preach defense. Nazim Richardson is the best trainer for Cotto. You have to teach Cotto patience on offense, and preach defense when dealing with Cotto.

Right on, Antwuan. IMO he isn't a type of trainer to work with someones strengths without changing them. He is too basic for Cotto.... I could imagine him emphasizing on clinching, throwing the jab and right hand. Cotto needs a trainer to continue to utilize Cotto's strengths like body work , while improving his dificiencies like defense.
deal Manny is better for Cotto than his actual trainer but there's a lot of trainers that would be way better for him. Someone mentioned Ronnie Shields who IMO would be great for Cotto.

Thats his MO....I remember once when Hilmer Kenty was struggling in a fight and in the corner Steward told him " if you don't win this I'm done with you ..." This was a very promising prospect that reminded me of Hearns. He didn't treat Duwan Johnson that great as well who was eventually found belly up in a street corner.
