    Victories for Joyce and O'Neill

    Tuesday, 16 June 2009 17:00
David Oliver Joyce and Darren O'Neill maintained Ireland's winning start to the European Union Championships after recording two last-16 victories at the Odense Sports Centre in Odense, Denmark on Tuesday afternoon.
Joyce, who is defending the gold medal he won in Poland last year, came from behind to beat Danish featherweight Denis Ceylan 11-8.
The St Michael's Athy man, who forced Ceylan into a standing count in the third, will now meet England's Ian Weaver in tomorrow's quarter-finals.

O'Neill, meanwhile, had his hand raised in victory when Turkish middleweight Ulus Kaya was retired by his corner after taking a standing count after being floored by a second round left hook from the Paulstown, Kilkenny clubman.
O'Neill was 4-0 up when the bout was stopped.
John Joe Nevin and Philip Sutcliffe will be involved in last-16 bouts later on Tuesday, while Ken Egan meets Sweden's Eric Skoglund in an 81Kg quarter-final.
If Egan wins he will be guaranteed at least a bronze medal, adding to the three gold, one silver and one bronze he has claimed at EU level since 2002.

fair enough - now just stop acting like a dickhead on this thread. I know this is the "general forum" but we like to think that we are above the usual bs and we stick to intelligent debate.

try and follow our lead! :good

    Has Con Sheehan fought yet?

Apologize if I missed a mention of him someplace.

Rogan/Sexton is expected for sometime in September.

Hello Mike, how are you keeping. Sheehan boxes tomorrow. I'm sure someone will post the result, so keep looking in.
