Paul Williams?

Can Williams still make 147lbs if a fight against a marquee fighter was agreed for Welter? Its been quite a while since Paul made 147lbs. When he fought Quintana he weighed 164lbs come fight night, a gain of 17lbs.

Who out of the major players, wil step up to the plate & face Williams? I fully understand Paul is not the biggest attraction in the game & other guys bring more money to the table, but Paul is clearly an avoided fighter, no question!

Even Shane Mosley said he would not relish a bout against Williams & that he would rather go elsewhere in terms of facing another opponent. Props for Mosley for being straight up about it!

Williams states he can still make Welter if required so we have to take him at his word. However, soon the time will come when he cannot make that weight. I can't see guys like Pacquiao, Cotto or Mayweather calling him out! Clottey has called Paul out & you have to give Joshue credit for doing so.

I think Williams takes a UD against Clottey. Williams is young, is improving & has not reached his peak yet. A big concern for his camp must be inactivity becoming an issue because its clear its getting harder to match him!

Williams-Clottey wouldn't be at 147 it would be at 154 considering Clottey was ready to strip off his underwear making 147, add the fact that he's had a fight at 154 that it'll probably be at that weight

IMO, 147lbs should be out for Williams.
He's the man @ 154lbs, Unless he is offered alot of chip's Vs. a top 147lbs.
or offered a "Superfight" vs. one, I say he takes 154lbs over & wait for them to come to him.

Williams inspires SHEER TERROR into ALL fighters (and their promoters) between 147 and 160 pounds. The guy is a PHENOMENAL fighter who does not get the credit he deserves. He can still make 147 pounds without a doubt. He weighed in at 157 for Winky and so cutting 10 away should be NO problem at all as he wasn't even that cut for the weigh in.

NOONE will be prepared to step up and face Williams. He is the TRUE CHAMPION of the Welterweight division. He stepped up to Margarito when he was AVOIDED and outboxed him to a close but CLEAR decision WHEN MARGARITO WAS IN HIS PLASTER PRIME. Notice how Williams was HURT and STUNNED around rounds 10 when the plaster began to harden - much in the same way Cotto's face began to swell VERY BADLY around that time in their fight.

Floyd Mayweather would NEVER fight Williams. Not even for $100,000,000. Shane 'The true WW champ in the eyes of the blind' Mosely has OPENLY DUCKED Williams, claiming: 'I'll fight anyone, just not him (Williams)'.

Cotto would fight Williams but Arum would NEVER let that happen as Williams would DISH OUT A BEATING. Obviously the same goes for the Pacman.

Infact, the situation DISGUSTS me. It encompasses EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH BOXING. Here we have one of the most unbelievably talented fighters of the last 10 years being OPENLY DUCKED by MULTIPLE DIVISIONS. Everyone has bought into the Pac hype train, making it gain unstoppable momentum with wins over a SHOT TO **** DLH and SHOT TO **** Hatton. Now everyone from 140-147 wants to fight Pac and are OPENLY DUCKING the real champion in Williams. It's a ****ING CIRCUS and with Mayweather's return it's only going to get worse.

There is NOONE that can beat Williams from 147-154 (maybe even 160). His SICKENING angle work, UNBELIEVEABLE work rate, INCREDIBLE punch variety, EXCELLLENT Chin, his WILLINGNESS to WORK THE INSIDE, his ability to work from DISTANCE, INSANE stamina and UNFATHOMABLY LARGE HEART make him FEARED from not only 147 to 154 but at 160 and 168 as well. The guy is a phenomenal fighter and will hopefully soon get the credit he deserves after a few beatings.

De La Hoya said today at ESPN.com that if Shane can't get a big $ fight with Pac, then he will fight Berto or Williams. Nothing wrong with trying to get the biggest payday out there and then going onto guys that don't bring much financially to the table, which Williams doesn't. In fact Berto brings more.

    Basically: Williams = The best.

Also, I think you will realise in time Margarito is a DISGRACE to the sport and when he comes back and gets KOed in brutal fashion again (funnily enough the only time he stepped into the ring where we DEFINITELY know he wasn't using his pads) then we won't have to experience such blatant denial from huggers such as yourself.

Mr. "most avoided" also turned down a fight with Kelly Pavlik at 160.

Until then, I think you just have to chalk it up to Mosley being the better fighter that night.

which is the ONLY real evidence that has come out of the entire Margarito saga. The whole "Plaster" talk is just that talk.

We will have to see how he does when he comes back, first..

Source? Anyway, don't blame him... he wants to put some BEATINGS on some WWs before he deals on the big boys.

Pretty ridiculous if you are trying to put him down with that anyway... Welterweight ducks Kelly Pavlik? LOL.

When are you people going to accept the fact that Pwill is a Welter first and foremost. He has no trouble making the weight, none. He cant get good figths at 147, considering he was the WBO champ its clear he is avoided at welter and for good reason.

    I disagree...
I think if anyone beats Williams again it will be @ 147lbs.
