Exactly what Ive been saying for yrs, the 1st fight was so hard to score & super close, no superiority was shown by either fighter.

The 2nd fight was a clear Morales victory, even MAB fans know this but act dumb, Erik took 8 rds.

3rd fight I scored even but can accept a 7-5 either way, giving either man more than 7 rds in that fight is severe ******ation as it was the easiest fight of the 3 to score, the fights got easier to score as they went along between these 2.

Morales was more of a pure warrior. He was more successful against the same fighters MAB fought, and a big one is that he beat Pac-man who obliterated MAB.

I've watched their first fight more times than I care to remember, and like Merchant, Lampley, and the British commentary, I felt Barrera won more rounds than Morales did. On that basis, irrespective of how close the fight was, I felt the verdict went the wrong man. This is the general consensus among Boxing fans and media.

A myth. There was no boxing lesson on show, Morales won the first half of the fight without ever doing much himself. Neither fighter were impressive in this fight, but Barrera finished the strongest. I had a draw, could see a Morales win, but I consider 1-1 to be fair at this point.

Easiest fight to score of the three, and this was also the general consensus among the HBO broadcast. I felt Barrera was clearly the better of the two over the 12 rounds, and although Morales began to find a home for the overhand right, Barrera was already too far in front.

 

2nd fight, they pretty much split the first 6 rounds, you could give EM a round advantage if you wanted. MAB pretty much swept the second half of the fight. Imho MAB clearly won their first encounter as well.

How the hell did it ever become conventional thinking that the second fight is 'controversial'?

MAB also has the better resume. Take away the first Pac victory for EM and it's not even close.

 

Morales easily won fight 2. The first fight was too close to call. Third fight could have been a draw. Morales started late but came on strong, even making MAB bow down in the closing seconds.

Maybe I'm just generic but I thought the first fight was a clean win for Barrera, the 2nd was a close but clear decision for EM and the finale (where all was settled) was a clean win for MAB.

What would REALLY be interesting is who was the better PPV attraction? I remember somebody doing a study of sorts that had MAB far and ahead as the bigger PPV attraction but that was back in 04.

 

No, but I wish he would have... Slamming Hamed's head into the turnbuckle is almost as good. I don't hold that against Erik. In fact, I think it's cool as hell, I love it when a boxer shows some personality. Always loved Augustus for it. Would have been cooler if he had stepped on his chest first lol...

One of the coolest Erik moments is when Paulie Ayala hit him with his sunday punch, then pulled back and looked to see if it had any effect. Morales stared at him, grinned and put both hands by his face like he was going to sleep then waded in and pounded the bejezus out of him LOL

 

Exactly how did he 'easily' win fight two? The fight was pretty much a draw going into the middle rounds, and MAB completely took over after that. Please explain to me how that becomes an EM victory.

2. Morales always fights for the fans
