Nobody gives a **** what they would weigh on fight night. That is the challenge of fighting at WELTERWEIGHT you imbecile.

Billy Conn fought Joe Louis weighing 166 pounds. There are SEVERAL other examples of this throughout Boxing History.

Manny needs to either fight at 140 or 147 and quit this catchweight garbage. It benefits NOBODY but him.

i`m saying the fight should be at 147lbs, as then a WW belt is also thrown into the mix

    good for all involved

The more I think about this fight, Cotto can & will exact the same thing JMM was able to do Vs. Pacquiao IMO. (Bring out the same type of trouble in him)
Except he bring's a lil' more pop in his shot's.

Let's take your logic. If Cotto weighs in at 144 and rehydrates 13 pounds like you are implying. He comes at around 157, while Pac weighs 148. It's a nine pound difference. It's still not fair by your logic.

If you can't handle a weight difference then this sport is not for you. Believe me, I am fine with it. Weight differences are apart of the sport now without same day weigh ins.

The challenge isn't fighting at the 147 limit, it's fighting someone far naturally BIGGER than him, the challenge of a former FLYWEIGHT fighting the best comp at weights he should NEVER be at.

History will remember the guy as a weight-jumping miracle. Pity all the cross-eyed ****wits of his own era don't realize it.

Pacquiao cannot make Cotto the same size as him, he can only try and level the playing field as much as possible, to ensure a fairer fight. Cotto will outweigh him no matter what, but if he can ensure Cotto is 155 on fightnight as opposed to 160, then of course he should do so.

Ever seen Arturo Gatti v Joey Gamache??

If you had, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Google it.

By your logic Roy Jones should have told John Ruiz he could not weigh in more than 215 pounds for their fight because he was only going to weight 199 or whatever it is at. Jones wanted Ruiz trinket belt so he fought at HEAVYWEIGHT not some bull**** catchweight. Do you understand this?

Leveling the playing field is not forcing a fighter to drain themselves while you fight at a comfortable weight. If he has a problem fighting fighters bigger than him, then he doesn't belong at Welterweight.

Dude you are a serious balls to the wall type of dude. You really think that Cotto should drain his ass like Oscar did to make weight ? If you do then you cannot be a serious boxing fan. This aint ****ing flower arranging, this is a real mans sport for real men and as history has shown there was never a need for none of this catchweight nonsense so why do we need a man to drain himself in order to fight the so called p4p1 guy at some bull**** ass catchweight.

And you talk about my threads, ***** please, your ass is getting destroyed up in this piece and you only on the 3rd page :rofl:rofl:rofl

You're right, he doesn't belong at welterweight. That's why the fight should be at a catchweight. :patsch

Cotto weighed in at 146 for the Clottey fight. If you think losing 2lbs would seriously affect a 5ft 7in, 28 year old former lww champion, you should check into rehab to dry out.

If he doesn't belong at Welterweight then he shouldn't be fighting them. That's my point! If Pac were to beat Cotto at 147, then he gets full credit because it elimates the possibilty of weight draining. Pac had no problem fighting at 147 when it was against old DLH. Now he wants to only fight at catchweights because he'll actually be in with a fighter that is young and in his prime.
