No it wont. But if cotto will be fine then make the fight at 147. Personally I think Cotto would be fine at 144 but so there wont be any excuses or doubt id like it at 147.

a lot of people dont understand weight issues is very serious when it comes to boxing... 2 pounds 3 pounds or whatever the case is it could be unhealthy and the outcome of any fight... even sweating of 1 pound at the last minute takes a lot from a fighter, people just dont know... manny already has a ton of advantages over cotto... hes not the smaller guy, almost same height, reach, speed, stamina over cotto, way bigger purse in money, fighting at las vegas, a trainer, we dont even know who cottos trainer is yet... and he cant give cotto a fight at 147, come on...:patsch

ONLY Cotto can be affected by the weight. Pacquiao's extra pounds are irrelevant. /end sarcasm.

Cotto is a young man, 28 yrs old. He's had far more fight at 140 than 147. He weight 146 for his Josh Clottley fight and he can't stand to loose 1 pound more to face a far smaller challenge in PAC.:patsch Stop it! It's not a good look. And to suggest that PAC is somehow NOT the smaller man when compared to Cotto is just borderline ******ed. PAC having never faught above 147 or even 140 until just recently compared to Miguel who has been fighting at 140 and above his entire career, there is really no validity to your arguement. Not to mention PAC started his career at 106 or 108.

By PAC getting the lions share, or having more stamina or choosing the venue are not advantages that would either help him in the ring or should be "sorry" for. That's like saying Mike Tyson should have been sorry for his terrific balance of ferocity, speed, balance and explosivness in his prime.

But....I wouldn't mind the fight at 147 where Cotto would hold even more of an advantage over the smaller PAC. I just don't see the big problem with a catch weight to even out the playing field for PAC who is without a doubt the smaller man.,

145 lbs for Cotto is not too much to ask....
It's a reasonable concession for a highest ever pay day, a historical fight for Cotto against a living legend, a chance to possibly be P4P #3 behind Marquez and Mayweather + being the most looked upon prize fight afterwards....

Cotto is a very big test for Pacman but a chance to take !

No doubt! Loosing weight is always tough.....just like gaining health weight is tough. But there are ways and methods to do both the right way if given the proper resources, training, Diet and time. As PRO boxers these should be available espescially considering their status at present. The catch weight is a non issue for fighters at this level and it really hasn't been that long ago when Cotto was a dominant 140 lbs figher. 144 ain't no problem especially since the official weigh in is not the day of the fight.

Cotto was struggling to make 147. Hes near 160 most fights. 145 should be the limit.

I heard that too, but that's not PAC's problem. IF he's struggling to make 147 he needs to re-evaluate his place as a WW and make that jump up to his "natrual" wieght class at 154 or 160. ANd if that is the case that means he is FAR larger than PAC and that would mean Cotto holds an even larger advantange being the bigger man. 145, 147 or 144 really makes no differnce to me. I see this as a classic match up as being a Great Small man vs a very good BIG man. Usually the "Great" fighter wins but boxing is very unpredictable and anything can happen.....Take PAC for instance. Look at the fighters this guy is having to choose from....FLOYD, SHANE, COTTO?? Who would've thunk it 2 yrs ago? Not me!

That or if Manny wants to claim he is taking on a legitimate welterweight
then he needs to weighin at 147...otherwise shut the hell up and fight
with Marquez who has been calling Manny out publicly!!!!

For him to shut the hell up he would have to say something like what you are implying. He's not. You however, are talking out of your ass, so maybe you should take your advice and shut the hell up.

To be honest if you have boxed before you know that 2/3lbs can make a difference. Every little thing counts wen going to war. Cotto looks as if he struggles to get to 147 let alone 144 and below. Why should he give up any advantage?? However much of a draw Pac is he is the little man who wants to step up and prove he is the best right?? So it is only right that he steps up to the plate and fights at 147. I dont give a **** about all this talk about he started at 106, who cares that was about 10 years ago, he is a grown man now. If he fights Cotto at 144 or below at this catchweight bull**** he cant claim ****. The protection and nuthugging this dude gets on this site is crazy.

this is exactly what i have said as well, cotto looked very healthy at 146 against clottey...i think he makes 145 easily....and 144 would be his limit.
