Dude, Cotto wasn't the one that called out Pacquiao, it was Pacquiao who told Arum to make the Cotto fight happen right after Cotto barely beat Clottey. Cotto mostly have said if the Pacquiao happens then thats good if not then he'll fight whoever. This catch weight thing should be banned in all honesty. If a fighter that is number 1 p4p like Pacquiao in which means he's the best in the world then move up at 147 pounds to fight Cotto. Look when Mayweather was the current number 1 p4p he fought De la hoya at 154 pounds in Oscar weight class with Oscar rules , the ring size, the gloves to put on. If Mayweather who was the smaller man can do it then why can't Pacquiao?

alright you must be a pro boxer, fighters like shane mosley have stated things like this, take a look at espn.com where shane mosley even mentions about mannys size and DLH recenlty did an interview where cotto works real hard to make 147. simple as that if you want to fight welterweights dont make them struggle to make weight... if you ever wrestle or box before you will know about this...

Its just that simple.......he's fought more as a juniormiddleweight in recent years than a Welter......and all of a sudden he's be asked to weigh 144 lbs?????
......I certainly would'nt like his odds at being the same Mosley the Welterweight.

The thing with Mosley is that he dehydrates significantly to make 147 lbs.......losing more pounds not only could, but imo would be detrimental.

    Unfortunately money talks!

Manny is'nt making them come down.....it will be there choice........unfortunately and rightfully however, the fans have the right to point to that Pac beat a dehydrated fighter who looked like ****!

If Pac were to fight fighters in their weight classes, he would'nt be subject to this criticism.

I cant really blame Pac for fighting these guys however, they're recognizeable name fighters that sell PPV's......but yes, beware that the educated fan will point to possible severe dehydration of a fighter when he looks like **** and becomes a punching bag as DLH did.

Did Cotto told Arum to make the Pacquiao fight happen way if Pacquiao beats Hatton? If thats a no then you got no arguement. Cotto never called out Pacquiao. Arum wanted that fight from the beggining. Pacquiao is the one that demand Arum to make the Cotto fight happen.

We will only know at fight time what kind of affect it would have. Frustrating but true.

Although we talk about guys like Clottey being big welterweights, Cotto isn't exactly small. He blows up a long way after the weigh in and he generally looks pretty drained and pale in the face at weigh in time. I think he could probably make 145 without too many problems, 144 would start to have significant effects i think.

The fact is Manny would only be selling himself short by fighting him below 147. At 147 i'd back Pacquaio to get the stoppage, and right now the only single question mark that can be raised of Pac is dragging De La Hoya down below a comfortable weight. Stopping Cotto in his own weight division would smash those claims and be the biggest win of his career.

many people here are insisting that its unfair for cotto to cut 3 lbs for the weigh in, but not realizing that if they fight at 147, pac will give up more or less 10 lbs on fight night :-(

This is what I don't understand...If Roach or Pacquiao don't feel they can fight at WW without catchweights, why even bother? :huh
