And this is clottey for christs sake, cottos opposition is the reason why he hasnt been stopping guys.
Cotto is just fine. No one ever said that he had Mike Tyson punches. His punching power is rated pretty fairly. If he catches a regular guy clean, he will KTFO.
I'm just saying some people seem to have him as a murderous pucher... so i just purposed the question punches in bunches landing off that big ass forehead
It's hard to judge Cotto's power, because I think it's fair to say that Margarito, Mosley and Clottey have 3 of the best chins in boxing.
his power is rated fairly imo. nobodys really saying hes like the WW ko king or anything. if he lands clean he can ko most guys, and his left to the liver can put anybody down. how many times have guys like mosley, clottey and margarito even been down anyway?
No one ever really rated him as a murderous puncher. He's always been viewed as more heavy handed than lights out. It was a single left hook that changed the complexion of round six. Clottey responded the same way he did when Baldo stunned him with a hook and when Margarito hurt him with a left hook to the body, he retreated into a corner and covered up.
I was rooting for Cotto big-time in the Clottey fight, but Clottey went down because he was off-balance, not because of the power of the punch. Cotto has decent power by accumulation, but not any more power than Clottey or Mosley.
maybe hes just insecure about cotto diggin a left hook to the body of paul williams and watching him on the canvas gasping for air???
He is a very good puncher and Zab faded? I think it was more of the beating he was taking. He may not have a one punch power, but he is a accumilitive puncher that breaks you down in the stretch. Clottey is a very big and strong WW.
will never happen for two reasons... #1 Cotto is too chicken to fight him, #2 Cotto got a decent body game, but he would have to eat too many uppercuts to even get there. Other than that, I honestly think Cotto has some really good power. That's one area I don't think he's overrated in.
