Yea, but was that not the last fight he had at WW? It is Walk with me's thread and he is not complaining, but actually participating. I don't see Williams coming back down unless PBF beats everyone at WW and calls him out, but by then then we can say Williams would not make the weight. His body is going to get acclamated to 154 or 160 in a year or so. I like to see him fight that WBO champ at 154 and then move up to 160 and take on Sturm or why not go after Sturm now? Has many options if promoters give him the chance.
Yeah, but his natural fighting weight is 147. That is where he is most comfortable. That is where he wants to fight. I know it seems rather strange for him to fight at these higher weights and then want to come down, but he only fights those weights to try to gain attention. He fought Andy Kolle to test the MW waters. And Andy Kolle wasn't the best guy in the world, but he wasn't no tomato can until PW made him one. Ask Andre Ward. He fought Verno to try and get some work in, because HBO had the date and didn't want Clottey. He fought Winky to see if he caould get some attention in the public. That was the biggest name that would fight him at that time. But turst me dude, he wants to be at 147. He would fight Cotto at the MSG tomorrow night if he had the chance.
i believe Williams can't make weight at ww comfortably without perhaps being drained. i dont see him fighting as a welterweight again.
clottey just said himself that cotto was much, much stronger than margarito. clottey definitely felt what cotto was throwing at him when it got through his guard.
he's a good solid puncher. he takes out opponents by weakening them through punch accumulation and well-placed body shots. not a power puncher who has one-punch KO power though. he had better punching power at 140.
There very wrong. Williams started off at 154 to 160 starting off and was able to get down and fight at welterweight after 15 to 16 fight's at the higher weights.
Last I heard, Jennings claimed Cotto was the most powerful puncher he ever faced. Then again, who the hell is Jennings.
Depends on how people rate it. If someone says he has one punch KO power then they are overating. I think he has enough power than he can change the momentum of a fight with a single shot.
Clottey claimed he didnt engage more on Cotto because he was afraid something similar might happen like in Round 1 (the jab that put Clottey down). Don't know if that's really the reason he didnt engage but for him to even think about that, Cotto must have done something...Cotto is not a 1 punch KO artist, like others have said, he is heavy handed and the accumulation of punches is what wears out his opponents.
Willimas needs to fight at middleweight dam, he was way bigger and stronger than Winky. Maybe he can figth Cotto, cotto is 5'7 and Williams punches would not reach him well, and can't posses to much power. If cotto can get inside Williams punches could not hurt him, in the outside williams ko Cotto.
