Not really a fair statement on Sanders. Sanders wasnt a bad fighter, better than lamon Brewster in my opinion although far less active at the time. There is no do overs in boxing. Wlad cant say wait I wasnt prepared to be bum rushed and wasnt ready to deal with a brawl or my opponents gloves were poisoned etc. Lets give credit to two guys who had the guts to take it right to Wlad and go for the KO. Wlad can box with the best of them, but he cant brawl with the worst of them.
I dont think Evander can put on the type of pressure that is needed to get past Vlad jab. Evander did well with big men acually he was having heart and stamina issues when he fought the trilogy with Slow boat Riddick Bowe. I can see Vlad pick him apart or disect him for the late KO or Stop
Who did Corrie Sanders ever defeat 1993-2002 that made him a world class fighter? Fact remains he is a one hit wonder. This is undeniable. I have ring magazine articles from 1990-2002 and not once was corrie sanders rated in the top 10. In fact some organizations didnt have him in the top 30. I might post one later to use some evidence rather than my own mouth At least brewster smashed andrew golota in 1 and beat Kali Meehan and Luan Krasniqi. Brewster is nothing special himself, but I think he proved himself better than sanders. Brewster also beat Wlad with stewart in his corner, unlike sanders.
As much as I respect Vladimir Klitschko, I have to go with Holyfield here. Vlad is an all-time near great; Holyfield is an all-time great. There's a difference in status here. Holyfield by later round kayo in a very competitive fight.
Whenever Wlad matchups against a great fighter are brought up, people refer to Wlad's losses, which were obviously his worst nights, and to the best fights of the other guy. Wlad underperformed a few times in his career, yes. So did Holyfield. On his best night, Wlad would never lose to Moorer or struggle with Bobby Chyz, John Ruiz or an ancient Larry Holmes. On their respective best nights, it would be an exciting fight. Wlad is faster and more accurate than Bowe and therefore I would give him the edge.
I was watching Bowe vs Holyfeild last night and thinking that, if it was Wlad in there. He would not have been able to keep Holy off of him. Also his speed would frustrate the hell out of Wlad and allow him to make contact a lot.
Hard to judge since Wlad hasn't retired yet (neither has Holyfield:dead) and it's pretty much 50/50, but i'm going with Wlad by UD. Holyfield is 1-4 against the skilled superheavies he faced. I see many picked Holyfield by KO, which is certainly not exclude able, but i will point out that Holyfield was never regarded that big a hitter and almost all his significant wins at heavyweight are on points, Tyson and Cooper aside. And those stoppages came from wearing them down with a very large amount of punches against guys who came forward. Wlad is very skilled in keeping his range and not likely to take a steady beating like that.
For his size , Bowe was the best inside fighter I've seen. Holyfield would get to Wlad and either take a dec or stop him late ,he has the chin and the balls ,Wlad has neither.
I think Holy struggles a bit with big men. Bowe got the better of him during the series, and so did Lewis. Holy also had problems with good boxers in Byrd, and Morrer. Even semi decent boxers in Ruiz and Bean made Holyfield look bad. On his best nights I'll go with Holyfield here. On their average nights I'll go with Wlad via decision. Wlad would out box Holy from the outside as Lewis did, and has the clinching skills to put the claps on the action if the going got rough.
Sanders was not promoted by King, Golota, Brewster, were. Sanders was more of a decorated amatuer, (believe he was Lennox Lewis' roomate in the olympics) and at least fought himself into contention spots. This is just my opinion remember, but I think Sanders beats Brewster.
