Tyson is heavily underrated. Mainly because of the fighter he turned into after his prime. Prime tyson is top 5 hw of all time imo
He did not beat anyone. His resume is very lacking when compared with other ATG's. His era was also awful.
Era aside , if you consider his skill and how he dismantled most of his opponents (regardless of how weak u think they are) he was the most feared man in the sport. His explosiveness has never been matched and i can see him beating almost all of the so called atg's i certainly think a prime tyson is far more skilled than a prime foreman
That is great and all but the guy with the most skill does not always win. Tyson had the mental makeup of a 13 year old. Mentally he would fold against Foreman, Ali, Holyfield, Lewis etc. in his so called "Prime".
When i last watched my tyson collection, i saw the contrast of tyson becoming short with the skill he possessed. The post Prison tyson was horrible.
thats probably true. Its just too bad tyson had the life he did, he could have been the greatest ever
A 6 week orgy, jap bitches ""lol""" excuses-excuses, BULL****---just shows you how stupid Tyson was, IT'S HIS OWN ****ING FAULT, should have been in the gym, instead of whoring around:-(... Tyson didn't have the mental strength to deal with tough situations, thats why he beacame a dirty fighter, lack of character, thats why Holy beat his ass 2x... Sick and tired of people always hearing people make excuses for this guy, yea it's always somebody else's fault, poor mikey:hi: A lot of fighters had very tough up bringings like Foreman, but they didn't go to PRISON more than once, or bite people's ears, or act like a total ******* at times...
Frazier had better stamina. Tyson's stamina wasn't bad or anything in his younger days but Frazier's was better. Frazier didn't get as lazy with moving his head throughout the course of the fight. He was more consistent in his head movement in the latter rounds. He was also less inclined to get frustrated and look too much for one punch. Sometimes Tyson would get lackadasical and Rooney would have to talk him back into doing things the right way. While Rooney is not some legendary trainer I do think there was a good chemistry between the two. Rooney was the right trainer for Mike, and Mike should've stayed with him.
He has wins over Tucker, Berbick, Smith, Thomas, Spinks, Holmes, Ruddock, Tubbs, Golota, Williams, Frazier, Bruno, Ribalta, Biggs, and Stewart. While there's certainly not a Joe Frazier or Foreman on this list, these are all contenders. Tyson's resume is fairly deep, even when compared to ATG's. Foreman has less than half the wins that Tyson has over top ten fighters but doesn't get as much flak for his resume. Obviously Ali, Louis beat him in # of solid fighters beaten as well as Lennox, but Tyson's resume is solid nonetheless.
Tyson was great and there is NO doubt about that. But there are some real issues with his resume. 1. He never got off the canvas to win a fight. 2. He never finished a fight he was losing. All of his losses are knock outs. 3. He never avenged a loss. With those three things missing on his resume it's impossible to rank him number 1. I love the dude to death for a host of reasons, but to be number one those things have to be fulfilled. They speak to heart.
Cus was his best trainer. Cus wanted Kevin Rooney to train him after his death. Jimmy Jacobs died. They along came King.....the end.
