He should beat Nonito Donaire his tormentor. Otherwise, he will always under him regardless of whom he beat.

mosley and hopkins maybe inactive for the entire year...while rafa and izzy would not have a fight against legit contenders...

I don't know. I think Chad Dawson has done pretty good. Especially considering the people in his weight class. Adamek, Johnson, and Tarver 2x aint bad. Vic has some good wins but when you get KO'd like he did, you have to drop a few rungs. Cause I figure if he beat Donaire, he probably still wouldn't be top 5 if he does beat Abegko in the eyes of many.

Doesn't work like that. At the end of their careers, every win and loss will be considered. If Vic has overall a better resume then he will be "over" Donaire.

Or do you rank people like Phillips above Tszyu? Do you rank Singsurat and Torrecampo above pacman? Thadzi above Toney?

Right now, despite his loss to Donaire, Vic is ranking higher because his overall resume is better.

Donaire has all the skill and ability in the world, he can end his career with a better resume than Vic - if his promoter makes the fights happen.

As to Vic's P4P rankings after this? I can see him anywhere from #6 - #8.

Good Post. 6-8 is very fair. If he gets his fight with Vasquez and wins like he wants we can look it again then.

agbeko is a tough champ and this will be darchinyan's third weight

it is a risk fight, darchinyan is fearless and his p4p rating should go up in the advent of a win

agbeko wasn't 100% v gonzalez. however it was not a lucky win. like most DK fighters, agbeko has gone rusty. agbeko smashed up luis perez & got robbe din germany vs the quality wladimir sidorenko, totally outworked the guy. this is a truer indication of his talent.

If Vic extends his stoppage streak in good company (Kirilov, Mijares, Arce) vs Agbeko, then he should be moved up a few places. A title in a 3rd weight is impressive, and let's not forget he smashed up the quality Irene Pacheco (come from behind KO) as well. You don't get many guys below 122 with a resume like Vic's.

Exactly right. It is this reason I don't take much notice of P4P lists these days as it's just a popularity contest. It seems the more well known you are, the greater your chances of being rated higher.

Best example is Mosley. He gets one win over a well known and very popular Margarito and he just shoots straight into #4 in everyone's lists. Vic has been doing it over a long time now and doesn't get the same accolades.

Most definitely if he dominates Agbeko and knocks him out.

Problem is: Darchinyan is moving up in weight and no one has ever dominated King Kong. I'm not sure whether Darchinyan can win this one at all, so it takes a stunning performance to do it big in his 3rd division.

If he does that, he'll have a recent resume only a few can compete with.

Maybe not, but he certainly ins't more deserving than the following:

    Pacquiao
    Marquez
    Mayweather
    Mosley
    Hopkins

He would have a solid arguement for 6th, maybe.

Lol, Mayweather is not even active until he steps into the ring, rib injury caused by low ticket sales doesn't count.

You can hardly make a point to get Vic a top3 place, PacMan, JMM, Hopkins are standout P4P-ers. But look at the other guys recent resume (which is P4P all about, not talent):

Mosley 2008-2009: Ricardo Mayorga tune-up, Margarito P4P-er for WW championship, TKO
Israel Vazquez 2008-2009: 3rd fight vs. P4P-er Marquez for SBW championship, decision, inactive ever since
Rafael Marquez 2008-2009: close loss to P4P-er Vazquez for SBW championship, tune-up TKO win

Vic Darchinyan: Gorres tune-up (clear win but controversial draw), IBF SFW champ Kirilov: KO, Top10 P4P-er & WBC/WBA SFW champ Mijares: TKO, WBA SFW champ Arce: TKO and now IBF BW champ Agbeko. No one comes close from 4 to 10 in competition. But Vic still has to beat Agbeko, and like I said, I'm not sure he can do it.

If he can, convince me that Mosley, Vazquez, Marquez, Williams, Calderon or Donaire had a better run in the past couple of months. Right... they didn't.
