I've always liked Oscar. He always carried himself with such class. Never ducked anyone and retired without losing his money.

Most the hispanics in LA never liked him becuz Oscar had intelligence and class. They hate that! I for one am glad to see a Mexican-American that did well for himself. I was disgusted seeing his own kind giving him the finger whenever he fought. And now he is being honored at our own Staples center with his own statue :happy

Floyd? He's always been okay by me. Nothing special, but okay.

To me, Ray Leonard will always be the black eye for boxing. I am so weary hearing about his four fights

Both he and the various sanctioning organizations have been responsible for bringing down the sport. I dont even watch boxing anymore

 

I could tell you that the same thoughts never went through my head but I would be lying.

There have been times throughout history when a fight has become a racial catalyst and it would have been extremely negative if one of the fighters had won even if he was not him self a bad man.

Imagine if:

Jim Jeffries had beaten Jack Johnson

Max Schmeling had beaten Joe Louis (second time round)

Gerry Cooney had beaten Larry Holmes

Or even if Alan Minter had beaten Marvin Hagler

In each case they would have become a poster boy for white supremacists.

 

Yeah Oscar was one of the greatest fighters of all time p4p (erm, NOT),

what a joker he was.

 

Margarito - obvious
Pacquiao - for not rubber matching JMM
Bute - because of the job they did on Andrade in Canada
Erdei - for annexing a light HW strap and fighting nothing but bums
Mundine - sparked by Ottke but talks like he's P4P

 

How do you know the treatment of the handwraps wasnt simply to protect the hand? How do we know it did any extra damage to the opponent. Remember Margo is an accumulation guy so its not liked 'loaded' glvoes helped him score quick KOs.

His biggest strengths are workrate, stamina and chin, not power

Now Mosley used EPO and steroids which certainly was cheating and caused more damage to his opponent, risking opponents health

Mosley-DLH II should be changed to a No Contest after mosley admitted taking roids in 2003

 

THe Coley fight should be a no-contest with Oscar cheating the scales. Plus who knows what performance enhancers Oscar used, he's well known for being the duiretic king, were all those duiretics legal?

I would love to see this guy get his butt whupped then make like Vanilla Ice and just go away for good and don't ever, ever, come back to boxing.

 

Calzaghe. I'm glad he stepped up against a few solid fighters, but I was really hoping Hopkin's would beat him, same with Jones. That stemmed more from wanting a Jones/Hopkin's rematch though.

 

Sure thats fine. Change both of them to a NC. Not to mention BALCO Shane clearly lost the fight getting outlanded in punches, powerpunches, AND jabs. Oscar won 6 of the first 7 rounds in that rematch. But I stand my ground all of shanes fights in 2003 at least should be changed to No Contests.

This is pure speculation. Fact remains oscar has never tested positive for anything, while shane got caught and admitted using Balco in 2003. SHANE IS A CHEATER.
