I think Primo was the much better fighter from just about every aspect. He needs to be the favorite here.

I have to agree that Carnera was the better technician and would probably take a comfortable decision.

Simon was for my money the harder puncher and more durable fighter so it is possible to imagine a scenario where he wins by a late stoppage.

I don't know, but I sure like Two Ton Tony Galento in the rubber match.

Unlike other tall heavyweights of his day, Primo optimized his reach with a decent jab. He got the better of Campolo and Impelletiere despite being the shorter man in those instances, and legitimately decisioned Loughran, aging, but still a highly capable stylist. Proven over the 15 round distance, he takes this one on points.

I agree with the consenus Carnera wins. One thing people don't mention is the first Louis-Simon fight that went 13 rounds. People think because of the 6th round dominating knockout shown on film that simon was nothing more than a big bum. But in that first fight that went 13 rounds, Simon actually left louis with welts all over his face and nailed joe repeatedly with the jab.....Simon was a strong, couragious fighter, with fast feet and a moderatlely heavy punch. Jack Johnson had him in his stable I believe thinking he could beat Louis. Carnera had the better skills though, was faster, more mobile, better jab, and utilized his tools better.

    Carnera decision
