I voted Ray, but after thinking about it, Duran. One of the all time great lightweights, won the WW crown from the best WW, won the JMW crown from a young lion, and beat Barkley for the MW belt that I thought he could not accomplish. The same man who KO'ed Hearns twice. Ray was really a four division champ. How do you fight for a SMW and LHW title? Only for Ray.

Hagler was only a dominant single division champion. Leonard and Hearns were only multi-weight champions. Duran was both.

His win over Leonard may well be the greatest in boxing history, as he was above his best weight and defeated a man regarded by most as the 2nd best fighter in that division's history. He beat a prime ATG natural Lightweight in Ken Buchanan and twice defeated another great Lightweight in Esteban DeJesus, avenging the only loss he ever had below Welterweight and in his first 73 fights. He virtually shutout a Hall of Fame former Welterweight champion in Carlos Palomino, and then at the age of 37, 21 years after his career began, he beat a Middleweight champion, something no other Lightweight has ever done.

Outside of that, he's got wins over Davey Moore, Pipino Cuevas, Jorge Castro (at 168lbs when he was 45), Ernesto Marcel (a great fighter who would later beat Alexis Arguello among others), and a series of excellent contenders from his era such as Emiliano Villa, Ray Lampkin, Guts Ishimatsu, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Edwin Viruet, Saoul Mamby, etc.

Plus, at his peak, he looked as impressive as any fighter we have footage of. A case could be made for Leonard to rate higher, but most, such as myself, are probably going to vote for Duran.

    Really ?

I KNEW Duran would be miles ahead, even tho I feel he has a slight edge on Leonard myself, mainly because of longevity & SRLs retirements, not ability + Duran is probably the most popular fighter on ESB anyway with Whitaker & Pacquiao 2nd & 3rd.

SRL hands down he has the best record H2H against them. Any other answer is a ****ing joke especially if it's Duran who had the worst H2H record than anyone on the list.:deal Anyone who picks Duran has no credibility and is nothing but a nuthugger. Hearns is my favorite of the group but you don't see me picking him as the best.
