    Will you?

It might make a big difference to whether history does.

No Vitali is arguably no1 and at least no2, Chagaev hasnt fought a top10 opponent since he beat Valuev over 2years ago and has since degraded badly with Hepatitis meaning he is unlikely to be the same fighter he once was

I disagree with some of your reasoning but the main point is that you would not be satisfied to recognise the winner as lineal champion.

I think that it would be a more credible claim than some that have stood the test of time.

Wlad Klit right now is the lineal champion.... But I think older bro Vitali Klit is the linear champion.......... A slight difference........:hey

I do NOT care if Wlad has more belts than Vitali........... One ABC title belt works for me........... In fact, I do NOT care if the top dog wears a belt at all, as long as he's kickin' serious ass out there........:yep

How is vitali linear champion? LOL who has vitali beaten other than Sam Peter(who wlad ALREADY beat).....Vitali has been inactive for 4 years while wlad has cleaned out the division. Wlad has been doing all the hard work, while vitali has been sitting on his ass doing jack****.

    An interesting point.

If you recognise Vitally Klitschkos controvertial claim to the lineal title after he beat Corrie Sanders then he has as much claim to be the lineal champion today as Jim Corbett did when he lost to Bob Fitzsimmons since he has never been beaten since the Sanders fight.

Yes but will you recognise Wlad as the lineal champion if he beats Chagaev or vice versa?

Anyone who thinks beating a 38 year old inactive out of shape Golfer deserves "linear" status is living in outterspace.

The winner of the fight tonight I will call LINEAR CHAMPION

Povetkin has fought and beat far better comp than Chagaev in the last 2 years himself. Gomez has beat better comp in the last 2years. Haye beat a better fighter this year, than Chagaev's beat in the last 2 years and was clear no1 linear from the weight below.

No way Chagaev is a clear no3 in this division by a long shot, and speaking of 'shot' he may just be that now he has Hep-B, which is a reason given for being inactive and poor performances. I want to know how serious Hep-B is

I think that you get too caught up with the principle and overlook the reality.

Chagaev is the No3 even if there are better fighters out there who have better wins in the recent past.

Jimmy Braddock was never literaly the best heavyweight on the planet and he had beaten nobody in the last couple of years when he fought Louis but the winner was still the lineal champion.

The legitimate heir to the British throne is an Australian sheep farmer but nobody wants to be knighted by him.

This is different Braddock beat the linear champ to become the linear champ so it wasn't establishing a new lineage. Linearity beign established is supposed to be no1 and no2, sometimes the Ring crowns someone when their 1 and 3 square off, but the Ring is becoming a joke now anyway many of their top10 lists are pretty crap, especially their P4P list

Wlad is clearly the most proven in the division alongside his brother. But his brother has a good case for being no1. Everyone knows that and lets not forget Vitali stopped Sanders who in turn stopped Wlad, Vitali was the Ring Champion

Do you think that Marvin Hart and Jack Root were the two fighters best qualified to fight for the lineal title after Jim Jeffries retired?

Do you think that Corbett having retired and vacated the title had a solid claim to be the champion going into the fight with Bob Fitzsimmons?

Do you think that the elimination tournament that ended in Max Schmeling being champion was valid given that George Godfrey was basicaly barred from taking part due to the colour of his skin?

If you have problems with this fight being used to establish lineage then why dont you attack some of the past shenanigans?
