I'll give you this: Rico Hoye sucks.

I actually gained more respect for Diaconu than I had after last night. The major issue, of course, is speed/timing. But Pascal was coming up from 168 and is very, very fast. Dawson is probably faster (he is), but I don't think he could take the shots Pascal took. Last night was a fight where I went away with props to both guys.

Diaconu now has to go back to the drawing board and try to correct a few things. If he does so, I don't see why there isn't anyone -- or nearly anyone -- he can't beat. And I gained new respect for Pascal. He fought smart and hard.

One thing is for sure, Diaconu has more class in losing than any of you slagging on him.

How dare you flap your jaws about someone being overrated after giving a performance and meaningful fight like that?

It makes me question your character. Not that it matters much, douchebags seem to have the collective "i don't give a f***" mentality and I doubt I'm saying news anyways.

I think he's not meant for 175. he should trim down to 168. My personal opinion. :bbb

He'd be drained at 168 man if he can make it at all.

Btw and I agree with your post.

he was the mandatory. Dawson could have fought him quickly and went back to business as usual within 3 mths. Instead he ditched the title.

No he signed to fight the guy, Diaconu backed out for what ever reason...Was Dawson then suppose to put his career on hold to wait on a fight against a fighter that very few wanted to see anyways??? those belts have little meaning anymore. Besides Dawson dropped that title to fight for another title vs a more well known fighter for a bigger payday. Its not like he dropped the belt and then fought some second tier unknown fighter.

You talk like Diaconu is something special in which Dawson should have fought instead? Tell me something Honestly who's a better fighter Diaconu or a 40 year old Tarver? If Diaconu was atleast a real good fighter then he shouldn't lose to a former smw fighter that was moving up.

Tarver and Johnson are much more proven big punchers then Dianconu and Dawson took those shots and never was close of being knockdown.

Tarver couldn't break an egg right now with his old-man punches (sad to see, I'm a huge fan) and Johnson has never been thought of as a power puncher. Don't tell RJJ that, but Johnson isn't regarded as any kind of big hitter.

Barry Tompkins and Wallace Matthews, who called the Pascal-Diaconu fight, kept talking about Diaconu's power. They know what they're talking about. He can crack. He landed some very nice shots on Pascal, but to Jean's credit, he took them and hung in.

what makes you think Diaconu would land a huge one, say his hook, on Dawson? Tarver(a southpaw) was landing some clean shots, Diaconu wouldn't. Dawson is the slickest fighter 160+ (more so than Ward and Cunningham) and Diaconu can't apply pressure like Johnson, neither can he box as well.
