    I never understood why Jack Johnson was regarded so high.. IMO, the only reason why he's a legend is because he's the first major Black boxer.

    In today's standards, he's a journeyman/gatekeeper...

    Hardly. For his time, he was a master boxer, a guy who was able to outclass his opponents. His defensive abilities alone put him in a class by himself in his era. He was justifiably regard by those who saw him - like Ring founder Nat Fleischer - as of the top five greatest HWs ever through the 1970s.

    Sure, his status has fallen somewhat as new candidates have emerged - and others like Foreman and Holmes added to their legacies - but he's still lower top ten material in my book.

    5 year reign is too short...add more 5 years of being on the top and he would make it in the top 75 ATG and possibly top 10 HW ever
