if cotto-pacquiao fight happens in november, he should start to spar 2 months before. That would mean that he must be fully recovered by 2nd week of september which is only three months after his clottey fight...

if what i know, that kind of a cut needs atleast 5 months before a boxer can start to spar

It doesnt matter because when the fight happens its gonna get sliced right back open.

To fully heal, I doubt it very much. That cut was pretty bad.

Cuts can heal in weeks with the right treatment...Miguel's need 14 stitches I think, Im pretty sure he would get them out in 2 or 3 weeks.

But the weakness in the skin is still going to be there.

a training for a big fight requires sparring to de started 6-7 weeks before the fight..Hatton just started to spar (with lara) first week of april...4 weeks before the fight

Depends if it opens up or not.

I think thats the least of Miguel's worries to tell you the truth.

People have different takes on that...Raheem hardly sparred in prep for Morales...I think I read something like only 30-40 rounds in the weeks coming up to it.

Some fighters start sparring as soon as they start training...Others wait until they are peaking only a few weeks out before they get into the serious ****.

Some are doing 15 round spars 2 weeks out from the fight, to overtrain...Some might only do a couple of 12 round spars weeks out from a fight, then do 6-8 round spars to keep sharp.
Some people are sparring days out from a fight..some stop it 2 weeks out.

Some prefer doing 4 or 5 mins rounds when sparring, some keep it to 3...Some mix up their sparring opponants...Some keep pretty much the same ones.

There is no right or wrong answer really.

but you hardly see a fighter that never sparred in training camp a month before the fight..

in cotto's case, a month before the fight with be 2nd week of october and that is only less than 4 months after sustaining the cut.

Yeah I might be wrong but I think he had another cut under his eye that required 8 or something.

I got that figure off a Top Rank press release..I honestly dont know what it is but generally you dont have stitches in for more then 3 weeks Im pretty sure.

I'm not a doctor but three months the cut will be heal but fully heal I don't think so, the area will still be sensitive to cut again.
