I believe that the Pacquiao punch would have knocked anyone out in that division. It was just a very well timed and connected punch.

Pac's punch was really that hard. I watched it on slo mo several times. It's easy for some people to underestimate MP's power because of his size. Hatton respected Manny's speed but not his power. Hatton laying on the canvass for several minutes proves to me how hard that punch was.

Bit of both. Hatton's punch resistance has faded alarmingly since the Mayweather fight but as others have said, that shot from Pac would have KO'd anyone at 140.

The punch was perfect but Pacquiao had hurt and stunned him several times before. I figured Hatton's ability/inability to take Pac's shots would be key since he would have to apply pressure to win and walk through some punishment. I wasn't picking Pacquiao with the utmost confidence although I was rooting for him but as soon as he hurt Hatton midway through round 1, with a right hook I think while Ricky was trying to apply pressure to Pacquiao on the ropes, I figured that was it, Hatton wouldn't win if he's already getting hurt and having to hold on. I was drunk and screaming "he's hurt, he's hurt!"

Hatton's punch resistance has diminshed in the past couple of years. Actually, overall he's just diminished.

    Exactly.

Pac hits very hard, imagine if he connects with a perfect punch, like he did with Hatton.

Hatton said he was hurt with the first punch, and I believe him. His punch resistence was obvioulsy in display vs Lascano. However, that hook that Pac landed would have knocked out JCC.

    Hatton got knocked out.

Before that he was never KOED in 2.

    Thus, he was shot.

THere actually should be a 3rd option.....Just look at the timing, placement and velocity of the shot. Sure PAC has power.....is he like a Valero? No. But he is very skilled and a well schooled fighter where he was able to take advantage of a mistake and capitolize on the mistake with great, perfectly timed and well placed punch with a very forceful punch. All this BS about "punch resistance" is laughable. Rick's chin is good...he just got caught with a perfect shot.....for the 2nd time by a different P4P king one year removed.
