Low ticket sales is the problem. It's the sign of the times. The Big R. Recession.

 

It is an unwritten agreement in the contract that a fighter will asked to fake an injury or sickness in case of low gate receipts. Fact!

 

I tell you what, I have not seen a stretch like this in a long time. I mean, we're talking 8-10 main event or co-main event fights called off in less than 6 weeks. And this all can't be blamed on ticket sales. I just think fighters today are so petrified to get in the ring when they aren't completely 100%. And part of me can't blame them. But the other part of me says they fight for a living and are probably never going to be 100%. Regardless, this is a disappointing trend that boxing needs to take a look at, and do something about.

 

Damn, this is the worst summer for Boxing ever.

I had my calendar marked up for all the big fights this month, crap. :fire

The only one who can save this month is Victor Ortiz.

And all we got in July is Darchynian for a high profile fight.

 

Not to dampen your spirits either...
But I heard a rumor that Ortiz has had some shoulder prob's going into his fight aswell.
heard it from someone who does work & promo in connection w/ the Oxnard PAL.
I have no link, So take it as you want.

 

Pray that Darchynian's fight doesn't fall through!
