There is a story about me dad and Gerry. They're lifelong friends who went to school together.
Gerry told this story when he was a guest on me dad's "This is Your life".
He said he came home from school one day worried and told his mum he was boxing Alan Rudkin at the lord mayors show, they were oly about 12. His mum said "Don't worry he looks like a choirboy, you'll be alright".
That night he came home with 2 black eyes a flat nose and a cauliflower ear. His mum screamed "What happened"? Gerry said.... "He won".
Gerry always says he gives credit to me dad for putting him on the road to showbiz cos after that hiding he hung up his gloves and stuck to his music.

I suppose you could say then, and Conteh will like this. My old fella is partly responsible for this
