I don't know much about this guy; other than 1) he drew with almost-totally-shot-(but pre-Floyd)-Gatti victim Leo Dorin - his only professional non-win. 2) he got the better of Mayweather (putting in dubious effort) in a sparring session of which a video has frequently been circulated in contentious battles between Floyd's haters and huggers. 3) he recently hired Pernell Whitaker as his trainer. Aaaaand - that's about it. Why is the guy so low profile? How does he get to be undefeated over 42 fights in 15 years and not see any significant TV exposure? Why is he fighting a 25-12 guy in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night? How padded is his record? How good is he? Or isn't he? Who is this mysterious anomaly? :huh
Good boxer in his prime which was pretty short. Decent fotwork, decent jab, good body movement, leaky defence, decent chin. And he lost to Dorin, that was more of a hometown decision.
he was in prison for a good while a couple of years ago for shooting his girlfriend and his career hasnt really got back on track since he got out
It's too late for Spaddy who was a quality fighter before throwing it all away with alcohol and domestic disputes.
***an is an honest guy, he will admit when he's been beaten, but he absolutely swears to this day that he beat Spadafora and a lot of people ringside agreed. I think catasyou, perfectly summed it up, in his prime he had a good package and was a very decent fighter, but like he says, his prime was short lived and obviously his career went down-hill and never recovered.
Dorin was the only fight of his that I enjoyed because he opted to trade. It was never a style that suited him and that's why he earned a draw. I dislike the guy, but he's talented. I would have preferred to see him get knocked out rather than shoot his girlfriend and go to prison. I always saw him as a lighter weight Fres Oquendo.
He had one impressive performance in his career.. against Pito Cardona. He was a good fighter, but the sparring session with Floyd was his real claim to fame. Floyd woulda ****ed him up in a real fight. Spaddy knew this, and tuned down a million dollar payday with Floyd.
To make matters worse, the sparring session with Floyd was on his first week at camp, meanwhile Spaddy was wrapping up camp for an upcoming fight.
Tonight Paul becomes just the eighth person to knock out Ivan Orlando Bustos! :happy TKO6, way to go. Maybe step it up a little next fight? Like, maybe an Edwin Vazquez?
The fight wasn't filmed was it? Last time when he fought Howard somebody fimed it and after googling for a few minutes I managed to see the video of the fight. Was this one filmed?
