Wlad will never get the recognition because there's no one else in the division that the media wants to hype.

Without name recognition Wlad won't be able to reach the status of the other greats.

Look at the top 10 heavyweights of all time.

They are great because of what "names" on their resume. (Not all of them)

Lewis wouldn't be where he is if he didn't have holyfield and tyson on there.

Tyson wouldn't be where he is if he didn't have Holmes there.

Marciano is most known for his win over Louis. Without it, he wouldn't be where he is.

It's all about name recognition, without. Wladimir won't be able to reach that status.

:good Your exactly right. I think also, Wlad's fights are not exciting at all, so whose going to talk about them? Unless were talking about Wlad/Iggy, in which I think we lost some Heavyweight boxing fans that night.

It also doesn't help that neither one has an enertaining personality, which American fight fans crave in a Heavyweight champion. I mean look at how far Hayes mouth almost got him, he had 3 fights lined up with the Klits because he was able to get the publics attention with his great personality. Sorry Wlad, throwing up a gay peace sign or holding your thumbs up like "The Fonz", isn't going to make anyone that much more exicited for your next boring fight.

He fought two Hall of Famers in their primes.

Liston, Moore, Patterson, all at the end of their careers.

Foreman wasn't a HOFer until he did what he did at 45.

Larry Holmes. Sure he fought him when he was old but he didnt' win but it only adds to Ali's greatest. Ali fought Holmes!

This is actaully a pretty good point....Some of the Klit fans always claim them to be the greatest heavyweights, but they are yet to even beat an HOF level fighter let alone a ATG...Those fighters that the Klit fans claim they are better then have done that.

However on the flip side, I think that only Toney has a shot of being a hall of fame level fighter that is fighting as a heavyweight now.

Only reason that foreman wasn a HOFer the first time around is because he quit..However he would have gotten in at some point even without his comeback.

im just saying... i was reading ali's record and the hof list... im not speaking about old or young or prime or unprime... just looking at the records.. i wanted to do more hw's but it took me a while and i got lazy

maybe tommorow ill do james toney, holyfield lennox and 1 or 2 others

i didnt know bob williams was an hof'er but cleveland williams isnt in there unless he has a nickname

they will be for their success in their era... but their lack of competition will forever haunt them

That's not their fault the media does not want to hype the fighters.

It's simple really. If Wlad was american his wins were be bigger against the same fighters.

    Bob Foster

Yeah got the other one wrong as Cleveland Williams is only in the World Boxing Hall of Fame and not the IBHOF.

Yea its sad though thats what will happen.

If Ali did what Wlad but won the same fights etc. He would be like in the top 3/5 instead 1 on most list.

Has almost nothing to do with it. No one is impressed with the heavyweight division and recognize that the competition is lacking. The US would happily hype any "white" athlete as the country is about 2/3 "white". It is not the color of their skin nor their nationality that is mitigating their success in the US. It is their relative talent level that isn't compelling. On the other hand, they might have more fans and respect if they were smaller than their competition (being an underdog or at a physical disadvantage can be attractive and generate supporters hoping an athlete can overcome long odds).
