He might have improved as a boxer but hes still boring as ****. Dont know why anyone would want to watch his fights, they're truly anesthetizing
As is any competition where the opposition is thoroughly outmatched and cannot dare compete with the person they're up against. Most Randy Johnson or Nolan Ryan pitched baseball games of the modern era were boring as **** - doesn't mean they weren't superb.
I'll try to get through to someone that has to respond to posts like a 12 year old child. My point is that Wlad may have improved over the past 6 years, but his chin is still the same. The version of Corrie Sanders that beat Wlad 6 years ago would still trouble Wlad now. He isn't THAT much improved and I can guarantee that his chin is not any better. Sanders was just a bad matchup for Wlad. Sanders had a better combination of handspeed, size and certainly power than anyone Wlad has fought since. This is not Wlad's fault, it's just the facts. Also, I'm not justifying the opinions of people that don't like HW's that are chinny, that once again is just reality. Lennox had the same problem. History of course now looks more favorably on Lennox just as the general public a few years after Wlad's gone. If none of this makes sense to you because you can't understand anything that doesn't completely agree with what your opinion is, then let me finish by saying- Go **** yourself and your European loving, "boxing is a sport" garbage and take it to the mainland where it belongs so that you can suck off the Felix Sturms of the world.
PugilisticPower: Nolan Ryan or Randy Johnson might strike out 20 or throw a no-hitter on any given day so I think they would be exciting. Greg Maddux, on the other hand... that was boring dominance. I see Wlad as the Greg Maddux of boxing and I love it (although I wish he'd throw his hook more often). I always loved watching Maddux pitch. You'd see his 88 MPH fastball and think you had him... then he had you. People see Wlad's chin and think they have him...
Well thats true - the level of competition is **** But that only makes Wladifear even more of a ***** for not taking the SLIGHTEST of chances, the SLIGHTEST of risks
Getting in the ring with a prize fighter who has never been beaten and was good enough to be a world champion amateur is a risk. Unless you've laced up a set, don't talk about risk. As for Raiderjay - you're not even worth further response, you're as xenophobic as they come. I hope your mother likes you, cause that's the only girl that's ever going to **** you.
This is a great thread. its always good to see such a great post from someone intelligent like you dinimita. Their are still far too many idiots on here.
I think a fighter like Chris Byrd would be a closer analogy of Maddox who used more finesse than power.Wlads punches would be more comparable to a Nolan Ryan fastball than a Maddox slider or changeup. If Wlad would have been a pitcher ,he would have worked the corners with his 90 mph change-up or curveball, trying to be carefull but throwing the 100 mph fastball at the right time to get the strikeout. He would have been running the count to 3-2 before the strike-out ,so people would say he was boring
I thought it was a rather boring fight, but I'm not going to downgrade Wlad's win because I think it lacked excitement. Wlad fought the perfect fight and dominated. What can you say, the man just wins. I myself thought Chag would put up a better fight than he did, and before I asked myself "Why didn't Chag try to get inside more" I stopped myself and thought of Wlad's last 4 opponents. Everyone 'should' have done something differently, but they didn't, or rather, couldn't. It wasn't only Wlad's jab that stopped Chag from getting in range, it was Wlad's footwork. Wlad also seemed a fair bit faster for this bout; I'm sure Steward, in anticipation of fighting Haye, had Wlad concentrate more on speed than power. There was a noticeable difference in Wladimir's speed this time out compared to his last fight. I was impressed with Wlad's mobility. :good
David Hasselhoff, Komissar Rex, Ace of Bass and Benito Musollini are all great examples of this; craftsmen, craftswomen and one craftsdog one and all.
I didn't think it was boring, not at all. But I do agree with you on the footwork. Wlad was very fluid, fast, & he looked very relaxed, even more so than other fights. I was very impressed.
The Corrie Sanders who beat Vlad was at his very best in his entire career. Sanders had been training for months, came in at his lowest weight only 225 at a height approx. that of Lewis. Sanders was called the "Sniper" and for good reason. Quick as Hell, but Vlad did not ever spar for that fight. I warned them, wrote about it right here on ESB "before" the fight. Wrote about it on boxing.de, warned Klaus Peter Kohl, Universum, member of Team Klitschko as well. I had followed Sander's career for many hears. He was the best heavyweight southpaw in history. Had all the natural talent. Was not allowed to box in Olympics because he was from South Africa,if he had been allowed to fight he would have won gold medal. Sanders could have been a world champion for years if he had trained hard like he did right before he fought Vlad. Sanders had been preparing for Valouev. Vlad had not done much training for the fight at all, no sparring either, much less vs. southpaws. He did lift a lot of weights. Came into fight cold which is something you don't want to do against Sanders. Whatever, Vlad would have won a rematch Vs. Sanders, but Sanders refused to fight Vlad in a rematch, Vlad tried though.
corrie sanders is the wlad's buster douglas, and douglas was even better imo then sanders, douglas fought real competition and could have been something, but he was content on just his tyson win..... corrie sanders moment was beating wlad, and thats been it....hes nothing special....
