The main question of Pacquiao in my opinion is weather he's a significantly better fighter or if his opposition simply made him look better in his last 2 fights.

People are annointing him as superhuman and honestly it's hard to say. He looked so unbelievable fit, fast, and strong vs Hatton but at the same time, Hatton left himself wide open for shots and I truly believe Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley would've knocked out Hatton inside 6.

In these forums, people have the tendency to be all or nothing (understandably). That's how articles are generally written and that's how the media tends to portray opinions and stories. However things in life (such as pacquiao's dominance as a fighter) are not all or nothing and are not obvious.

That said, is Manny Pacquiao so significantly improved in the past year that he would dominate JMM as his camp seems to believe?

If you said Manny Pacquiao would be favored in a fight vs a prime Miguel Cotto, a prime Shane Mosley, or a prime Floyd Mayweather, EVERYONE in the boxing community would've called you crazy. Now they'd tell you you're absolutely right....And in my opinion, this is 100% based off of 2 rounds vs a defense free fighter.

So, I ask you. Is Pacquiao a significantly better fighter? Or is this the usual overboard boxing hype?

He is very fast, very aggressive, and is not that easy to hit...so its must be more than just hype.

to answer your question, I don't think that Hatton was defenseless, Delahoya was drained, but Hatton just didnt have an aswer to that kind of speed, even mayweather couldnt do what Pacman did to Hatton.
Floyd, a supposedly bigger, faster man could have knocked out Hatton in round 1 if he was defenseless.
Pacman should be given credit where its due, and I think that he would beat Marquez if they rematch more convinsingly, especially at a higher weight, 140 lb or above.

Cotto and Mosley are much bigger men. Remember that Pac started his pro career at 106 and now fights at a weight thats 35 lb higher than he started. Mosley and Cotto regain 12-15 lb after each weigh in at 147, while Pacman regained 2-3 lb when he fought delahoya at 147. Im saying all of this because if they ever fight, Pacman should be given full credit for beating these men at a catch weight, since they all are much bigger than him.

Pacman is not all hype, he is the real deal....and I think that he has legitimately proven all of this in the ring.

I've said this before...People are buying too much into the Pacquiao hype just because he beat a shot to hell/drained DLH and Hatton. I love Pacquiao (not so much lately but its mostly due to Roach and the whole catchweight fiasco) he brings much needed enthusiasm and excitement to the sport but he is by no means God and a lot of people overrate him saying he can KO Mosley & other outrageous statements.

Pac's got legit KO power. He was always lauded as a volume puncher but that last shot to Hatton....Jesus F*Ck. That will be remembered for a VERY long time.

A knockout like that will hype and increase your profile a lot!!

i think it all depends on how manny will look against cotto and how hatton will look if he decides to fight on, how quality was pacquiao's win....we didnt get that chance with oscar......

i really do believe not many 140 fighters could beat hatton still to this day.....so i give manny full credit at the moment.....

hatton is not a 147 fighter of course he would get ko's by cotto's and mosley's of the world...

There's a good chance of that but definitely NOT a sure thing.

Other fighters overshadowed him for the first half of the decade(Morales, Hopkins, FLoyd) and if he loses to PBF(should that fight ever happen) Floyd is easily the fighter of the decade!

For jumping from weight division to another which is reminiscent of Henry Armstrong, Pac is the fighter of the decade.
