I like your list. Rated on historical impact but no Dempsey? That just seems odd maybe I'm not getting what you mean by historical impact (By the way I'm asking not question your list).

Historical impact is perhaps the wrong term. I meant I do not rate on guesswork on who beats who if taken out of time. Obviously, Jeffries might not rate #5 or Marciano #3 on that basis.

I rate on how they dominated their own eras. Dempsey fails the test to a certain extent because he did not fight Wills and did not defeat Tunney.

By the way, it gives me no pleasure to leave Dempsey off. He was my boyhood favorite.

Ah, no I was thinking H2H. I was thinking Historical impact in terms of what the boxer brought and gave to the sport. I don't rank Dempsey too high H2H and he does fall somewhere toward the bottom of my top 10... and as time goes on he seems to keep falling. However, I do think he revolutionized how the sport became and how we see it. I guess the confusing arouse from "impact." My bad, could've figured that out. Thanks for answering the question.

    5. Holyfield
    6. Liston

My criteria has and always will be strictly what a fighter at his best could do in the ring against not a select few but all of the best fighters. To make my list look more reasonable I left out fighters people in this forum don't consider great and I only included champions.

I would have Marciano after Johnson, but 10 is the cut off point.

I don't think the voting should be so tilted to the #1 position. It gives too much power to someone with a freak outlook as he can give 25 points to one man and 0 to another, and change the whole outcome. 10-1 points for the top ten positions would be better, I think.
