Boxers do change their diet, usually best done gradually though and not a complete turnaround. You can supplement certain things here and there, where it doesn't alter his required nutrients and such. Soy products are great protein source and decent energy food but his diet does not have to consist of solely soy products, it can include lean chickent breast, tuna, and even steak if that is what he usually have, but have to adjust the amount of each type of food to suit what he needs. He only needs to go down one pound it is not like we are trying to get James Toney back to middleweight.

I'll root for PAc no matter what weight he fights Cotto. If I were a hater of Pac, I wouldn't say one kind thing about him. I love Pac as a fighter, and respect Roach...but to be honest, I question his promoters vision of his fighter.

In boxing, fighters move up in weight ok, they don't move down. Have fighters won more movng up in weight or moving down? Let me know when you see a fighter moving 6 weight classes south. The 2 lbs part is not really the issue, it's asking the ww champ to lose lbs...that is the issue. If Cotto were the draw, Arum would be saying the fiht is at 147.

The fact of the matter is (Tolindoy's argument really):
Pac asked Cotto to drop at l43 : He was turned down.
Cotto offered to drop at l45: It was accepted.

Btw, Pac did not ask Cotto to come at any weight as you said. It was l43. It was not even a firm request. :deal

i get the whole deal about the factor of nutritionits bro, but as far as i know, they could only compute on the enenry spent by a fighter. so in essence, yes, that nutritionist could say that cotto could drop down to 144 and fight 12 rounds the next day. however, there are more factors. weight reduction, for example may, reduce punch resistance. or maybe cause a bit of dip in cotto's power or speed, things a nutrisionist just isnt trained to factor

again, i think the role of nutritionist in boxing starts and ends with giving the fighter the proper food in training. whatever they say should have no bearing in making the fight.

just my opinion. im not trying to take a jab on all nutrisionists. it's a noble job, i have nothing against them

hmm says... without a doubt.. Arum stated that it will be and at 145lbs it's legit WW. It's hardly a catchweight for that matter. Cotto will no doubt rehydrate to almost his normal fighting weight and be the biggest opponent he's faced.

The thrill I got from competing/watching boxing is that you can beat up a guy just as skilled as you, or a guy bigger than you. Fans love to see the little guy pound the bigger guy. There is no feeling like beating a world champion... It's indescribable!
