The best explanation I can give is that Pinklon held the WBC belt and was coming into 85 with a win over Witherspoon...I guess he held his spot with his win over Weaver.

Holmes held the only newly formed IBF title and was beaten by Spinks in late 85.

Personally Id find about 25-30 guys Id put over Roy.

H2H he rates really really well...but his resume hasn't got much on the best of the best.

Sorry I'm confused...how can you have Floyd 50-60 all time and Leonard 18, but put Floyd over SRL in this list???

Are you saying that he gains 30 all time places because of his work in the 70's???

Yeah, you're right I have missed the paremeters somewhat haven't I............................................for some reason I had a flashthought that Hearns-Leonard was in 79 as was the Duran rematch......................

I'll put Leonard in Floyd's place. I stand by my original comments about him picking and choosing.

I placed him high due to the fact that you cannot ignore his resume...........I just don't hold the Lalonde win as high as others. Which would give him the 2nd fight against Duran(irks me) Hearns (one of the greatest victories of all time IMO) Benitez and Hagler (doesn't impress me, I also feel he waited until Hagler was not that great a challenge, and that downgrades him in my eyes)

However; I can hardly pick anyone against him H2H. I'm not denying his talent. I guess it's a mix of personal dislike and cynicism on my behalf. I have no problem with people ranking him top 5 P4P (post-war) and I freely admit that I am aware I consciously rank him low...........one day I'll mature and I'll sure he'll gain his rightul place.

I'm still pretty certain I'd rank him below Hagler, Arguello, Carlos Ortiz and several other closely-ranked ATG's......due to my cynicism over his best 'wins' and that is a general observation not one built out of bias.

And please don't give me a history lesson on his greatness anyone or the back stories of fights, I am well-versed in them and have debated them ad infinitum; I am not the kind of person to make snap judgements either, though, as I say, there is some bias in my deliberate low ranking. Hopefully I have explained this and shown myself not to be an ignoramus; I KNOW how good Ray Leonard was. Like Floyd, I feel he could've been even GREATER (i.e fought Hagler when he was at his peak, not clowned around as much)

Then, I guess the same criticisms (plus more) could be aimed at Roy Jones. I just prefer Jones' style I guess; even if most of his opposition was at the level of Dave Boy Green :good
