Your right but if he didnt win and was sparked in the first round which is possible he would be worth nothing. look at Pavlic. He was the next big thing then he gos and loses to Hopkins and now he is not worth a wank. Boxing is fickle game. It only takes one loss and your bargaining is gone.
Why not? It's not like boxing doesn't have a history of corruption, just like anything else that has a political faction involved with it. Wlad is a moneymaker, and Haye is a huge risk. If Haye knocks him out cold, Wlad's power will disolve.
thats boxing tho, sometimes u gotta take a risk. haye may have made the right decision. if he beats vitali (doubtful), the build up would be 239423u93292x as big. but now what if he gets blanked by vit in 2 rounds? career is all but over, and without the possible payoff of beating the guy that most people consider the legit champ.
man crespo pls dont even bite on this. not worth discussing. hes the worst wlad hater in world history.
To be honest i think Haye would lose to both Klits. But he has a punchers chance and a better chance than anyone out there right now. I think Vit is the tougher fighter of the brothers and if he did lose as long as he was not totaly out classed Wlad would fancy a pop. I think if it was the other way around Vit would not be interested in Haye. Vit is getting long in the tooth and just wants the money fights.
yeah this was all assuming that vit would face haye in the near future, and that looks doubtful. but i think haye nds to make his move FAST (ie fight one of the klits, or one of the very top hyped contenders like arreola). thats my whole thinking, if i were a haye fan, id want him jumping into the ring fast to his hype doesnt start fading, and that tends to happen fast when something like this happens (this being the cancelled fight with wlad)
Your bang on with that assesment. He does need to get in the ring sooner rather than later and i too think both the Klit fights wont happen. And Arreola is a great fight which im pretty sure he would win. And it would get the american exposure he needs and make the Klits sit up and take notice. But its a case of does Arreola want to fight Haye.?
ya know, from hayes perspective, its the PERFECT match up. gives him legit claim as a contender if he wins, plenty of hype, people would wanna see that fight itself too (as opposed to it just being a stepping stone to fighting a klit), and like u said HUGE american exposure. win win win for haye....but for chris.... hes already got a possible lined up fight against vitali. so good call, if i were chris and i was playing it smart, i prolly wouldnt take the fight. which is a shame, coz id certainly watch it.
Haye is a dangerous fight for Chris because if he were to lose he would slip straight of the radar. But if he can get the fight with Vitali then grab it with both hands as there is no shame in losing to either of the Klits as they are both recognised champs where as Haye is in the same boat as Arreola really. They are both unproven. Although Haye has a litle more to shout about as he cleaned up the cruiser division. (i know he never faught cunningham but he would have beat him handily). The heavy division is a hard weight to get anyware at the moment because 98% of the fighters are crap and there is no real gate keeper although Chag may well have just earned himself that tag.
im starting to come around a little about the whole "hw's are miserable". the line gets old because there are some good fighters (povetkin, haye, arreola, chambers, domint., etc), and the klits are great fighers... but what u said, about there not really being a gatekeeper, is the main reason i really didnt mind the undisputed cruiserweight champ coming up and getting a shot straight away. there really are only like 3 fighters that would make haye any more "legitimate" of a contender than he alrready is. so its not that far fetched to see him jump right up and get a shot.
Exactly in the old days there were legitimate contenders to fight on the way up but at the moment the klits are on a completely different level to the rest and the outcome is obvious no matter who they fight. What i like about Haye is that he is an unknown quantity. he is explosive and has power and has a bit of a dodgy chin. But nobody knows how he will fair which makes it exciting. With the others we know the result before they get in the ring and we know how the fight will go. (not including Arreola as he is an unknown quantity as well). What infuriates me is that people think he has no right going straight up to heavy and having a pop at the title. But they forget that it was not that long ago that Jones jr did exactly that when he faught Ruiz. Who had he faught at heavy to earn himself a title shot.
yeah it happens all the time in the lower weights. for example, if pre-bhop kelly were to move up to super middle, would anyone say a word about him getting a shot at kessler in his first fight? no. granted the heavies might be held to a lil of a different standard coz of the huge jump in power and weight, but when the hw division is so watered down as it is, i really dont think there is time/a need for that. the more we talk about this the more dissapointed i am the fight didnt get made
