Winning Gloves: What ever happened to this brand?

While a lot of big name fighters still use them for training/sparring because of their heavy padded reputation, we haven't seen much of their presence in actual fights lately.

Fighters like Mayweather and Morales used them in actual fights to protect their hands, but in the past two years, both switched to either Reyes or Grant.

Anyone in the forum who watches Japanese fighters have any info on the matter (Winning is a Japanese brand)?

Do you think the rule two years ago that the Nevada commission passed allowing fighters to choose their own gloves (instead of the previous rule of the defending champ allowed to pick the brand) has something to do with this?

Thanks man. Mayweather wore Grant gloves vs. Hatton. He used to have a promotional deal with them when he was the champ at 130-135. I think I have an old boxing catalogue with him in a Grant ad somewhere.

I think Floyd using Winning and destroying Gatti was a testament to his speed and accuracy. Imagine if he wore Reyes that night!

 

He's wearing Grants in your picture. I've worn Reyes, Everlast, Ringside, and Grant sparring gloves before, and I think Grants have the best combo of padding and lightweight feel. I haven't used Winning before. (The Ringsides feel like foam bricks to me, but to each his own.)

I think Floyd picks those to get the best of both worlds.
