Klitschkos are the reason I got into boxing and I enjoy watching their fights (but much more so Vitalis.) Wladimir is a great boxer, but Haye does make a point that Wlad runs like a little girl when he is being attacked. In order for him to gain more and solidify the respect for his boxing, I think he needs to come out and take more risks. His careful style is extrmely effective, but very boring. I enjoy his fights, but they can be so much more.

I would like to see Steward and Wlad start incorporating a more aggresive style. In fact, I greatly doubt that he has the glass chin that we all came to believe.

    Your thoughts:

Pernell Whitaker was heavily criticized over his lack of excitement back in the '90s, yet he's going down as possibly the greatest fighter since that time.

Why would Wladimir take risks when the only thing that matters in the end is result?

agreed...and i'm kind of indifferent about the klits as well

i think we saw what happened to wlad when he was fighting recklessly w/o his current cautiousness (essentially before he was taught to use that jab, etc)...he got taken out behind the woodshed a couple times

He has good reason for running. HE CAN"T TAKE A PUNCH. Steward has done a good job of hiding wlads chin. But to be honest I've never seen him hit solid without being in trouble. Brewster even wobbled him with a jab in there first fight.

Could it be possible to have a decent chin, but having rarely been hit and then hit a few times, and be so terrified that one falls. Wlad seems terrified of getting hit. Maybe its not because he can't take a punch, but because he thinks he can't. My little brother is boxing now, he would fall crying if he got hit in the head before...now he takes good solid punches becuase he learned how to absorb the pain.

    I strongly agree.

I know Wlad's chin isn't made of glass. He has gotten up every time he has been put down. He just isn't tough enough. All of the tools and advantages he has and the skills he has to know how to use them, keep him from ever getting used to 'fighting' in there.

The guy is just so not used to taking a shot that he unravels at times after getting hit with glancing blows. He literally looked like he was running from little Chagaev and Ibragimov at times when they hadn't even threw a punch yet, ffs.

Wlad needs to throw more combinations and maybe introduce an uppercut or a body attack to get these guys out of there sooner. He can still box safe overall. He does what he does because it works; suppose if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

I remember the pre-Sanders Wlad. :bbb Based on what I know he can do (seen ALL of his fights), I can honestly say that none of his last 10 opponents deserved to share a ring with him.

Can't stand what Steward turned him into, but its good for Wlad that he got his success because he has always been one of the best heavyweight's in terms of skills.

no...those are very very large men throwing very heavy punches...he couldnt absorb sanders, puritty, and brewster then...no need to see if, by some miracle, he can do it now.

No he really just can't take a punch. Steroids can't fix a weak chin. Steve pannel and TOS knocked him down for christ sakes. Even if he could take a punch the Klitschko's have weak skin there for he would be stopped on cuts. His brother is the better fighter of the 2. He has a great chin. But as you seen in the Lewis fight his skin let him down.

Isn't tough enough? that's stupid to think that. Been a fighter his whole life. Dominated amateur and pro, will go down as one of the greatest most accomplished most dominant HWT champs of all time. hes plenty more than tough enough. He is smart to use excellent highly developed sharp footwork to evade getting hit. It is hugely frustrating for the victim to never be able to get to range to land any punches. Wlad never lets em in the fihgt with his defense and footowrk and elusiveness. After just a few rounds they are mentally beaten and have no idea what to do to land a punch.,

But the imbeciles out there think it's a lack of toughness. Unbeleivable.

Not that I disagree with you because I don't. But I think one thing that has to do with the hate for Wlad is because of his weight class. People wanna see Mike Tyson in there everytime and it's just not gonna happen.

Take unnecessary risks when you are winning every fight by a wide margin, already...........Risk your status as the best heavy in the world, just to appease those who say you are boring?

    Not a good tradeoff.

Just keep winning and cleaning out the division, Wlad. You are KOing everyone the way you are fighting, now. :good

nah, wlads doig his job, to leave his chin open would be dumb. people criticize but the fact is that he dominates every fight from start to finish and 10-20 years from now people will look back and say that although he didn't have great competition he ruled for nearly a decade in a fashion more dominating than any other heavyweight champ as far as winning every round.

Everyone here needs to think about this realistically: who the hell WANTS to get get in the head.

    NOBODY.

Wvlad's fighting style makes 100% sense. Why bother risk getting hit!

    Great point:good

Why is Wlad criticized so much for his great defensive footwork?

Call me crazy, but isnt the object of boxing to punch while not getting punched?
