Was Haye the only one in the proposed Klitschko/Haye to be getting compensated by Setanta?

Its a little strange to ask for up front money but given Setanta financial situation it seems like a good way to see if they had any fiscal means left.

You don't need to be a well known boxing promoter to know that Frank! It's been said on these forums for weeks!

I beleive so, and more to the point that was his only income stream from the fight. If Klitschko's TV company had pulled out he would still have had ticket revenue etc. Setanta going to the wall meant Haye would have recieved NOTHING from the fight.

Yep, Wlad was getting the live gate and TV money. Haye was only getting the UK TV money. Setanta not paying up wouldn't have affected Wlad one bit but it would have demolished Hayes purse.

I wouldnt blame Haye for pulling out due to getting no money, no-one would fight for no money. He should have gone with Sky Box Office to start with, Setanta was always a pile of **** im glad its gone bust! Im just hoping Sky Sports can get boxing coverage..

HBO was going to show this fight. So Klitschko was going to get all the HBO money as well?

As I understand it yes. Does Klitschko not have a long standing deal with HBO? I though he did and that this fight was just another of the fights covered by his contract.

It does seem a bit strange that HBO didn't want to show the Chagaev fight but weren't going to pay Haye anything, but as far as I know that's the way it was. The UK TV money was the only money Haye was to get and that was comming from Setanta.

So you would fight wlad for nothing would you.?
And you would be happy to compensate Wlad with millions for pulling out with any reason other than injury.?
    Your comments are laughable.
One day you may actually say something worth listening to but i guess we will just have to listen to your fantasy glass jaw league untill it happens.
If you dant really know what you are talking about you would do well to keep your dumb ill informed comments to yourself.

Yep, Haye pulled out because of Setanta's demise. He wanted money up front, because Setanta had already defaulted on various payments.

Didn't need F-wank to tell us that!

My god, what kind of ****ing idiot must that manager of Haye must be.

That's the problem when you have a young inexperienced manager try to force a deal with a formidable management company. You get taken to the cleaners.

This does make sense, but so does the minor back injury, it was probably a mix of the two with the fear of not getting the big payday or the win.
