100% of the media is covering the 'Victor Ortiz Story', his background, his road to superstardom, his coming of age on Saturday etc, but it's almost funny how they criminally overlook Marcos Maidana. Well... at least it will be funny Sunday morning. I tell you something. HUGE credit for Ortiz if he overcomes El Chino, but I'm not sure he's ready just yet. Golden Boy Promotions wanted a step-up and picked the light punching, trice-beaten European Kotelnik (obviously miscalculating as a 'safe bet', Andreas is no push-over), and happily said yes when the Ukranian opted to fight Khan and Universum offered GBP 'the guy who lost to Kotelnik', and the price Victor could pay is huge. If GBP think Maidana is as bad as his boxrec record suggest and Ortiz is as good as his golden smile, they'll be in for a shock. Even if Ortiz overcomes the tough Argentinean, this fight is a promotional mistake.
Congrats to these 18 peeps who correctly picked Maidana by TKO or KO: awas88, BigBone, Bigric, buxzer, Chillman, CLUBBER, jlmayo825, Karapuz, Kid Cuba, Odo, papptheking, rickx1, silly_illy, smokin, Tom_Tocca, waldoesj, wine, XTOCb :happy :happy :happy
