I have heard figures such as 270 and 280 lbs mentioned.

There is a clip of him hitting it on Youtube somwhere.

It actually contained a entire junked Buick, fresh out of the car crushers jaws.

Marciano was a freak of nature and a fitness freak....I do not know anyone that can punch like that weighing 188lbs, and to hit a 270lb bag back then in the 50's, and it was moving too. Sam Langford was another freak. Joe Choinski, Mickey Walker and 5"9 James Toney but Marciano had to be the greatest puncher LB4LB in history.

Not a chance, considering Rocky trained like an absolute madman to get down to 188 pounds.

Here's something to roll around in your head. Everyone that fought both Choynski and Fitzsimmons said that Choynski undoubtebly hit harder.

Fitz killed three men over the course of his life with his bare hands, whether in sparring or the ring. Choysnki also doubled over Jeffries with a bodyshot.

True he trained like a madman to get down to that weight but that still is what he weighed. There may have been a few others in contention for LB4LB puncher... but all of Marciano's opponents said he was the hardest puncher they fought and that is pretty impressive when you have Charles,Moore,Walcott,Layne,Lastarza and Joe Louis saying that. One thing is for certain, Marciano was the Hardest hitting heavyweight LB4LB....Who Could match him

There is no way Joe Choynski hit harder than Rocky Marciano or Jack Dempsey. unless your dreaming in fantasy island, with a man crush on the pioneers of boxing. Choynski with the way he fought, hed be lucky to break the top 10 post 1940. Stanley Ketchel hit just as hard as Fitz or Chonyski.

Actually Ezzard Charles said Bob Satterfield was the hardest puncher he fought, but marciano was "By far the STRONGEST fighter i ever fought"

Gotta love how he dips underneath it...that bag could've done some damage had he not weaved low enough to clear it.

Yes, he called Marciano the hardest P4P puncher ever. This is incorrest using pretty basic logic. Choynski, a MW, obviously hit harder in a P4P sense considering he surpassed a ATG, man killing hitter in Fitzsimmons.

And no, Ketchel did not hit harder then Choynski from Jack Johnson's on mouth. Are you even remotely trying to suggest your opinion over rules the man who fought them both?

So your saying that because a fighter said "this guy hit harder" its the end all of end all opinions? In that case....Carmine Vingo was the hardest hitter rocky marciano ever faced, since rocky said so. Mike Dejohn was the hardest hitter George Chuvalo ever faced since he said so....and Butterbean hit harder than Mike Tyson because Larry Holmes said so.

I prefer a knockdown over a prime 210lb Jack Johnson, than a knockdown over a malnourished 180lb Jack Johnson.
