Pac v Cotto reminds me a little of Hagler v Mugabi.

Leonard waited for Hagler to slide and then took the fight.

PBF is also playing the waiting game- Cotto and Pac will be a hard fight for both and PBF will probably fight the winner.

Clever but kind of pisses me off.

He already said he will fight Pacquiao OR Mosley after the Marquez fight before Cotto/Pac was announced.

Pacquiao vs Cotto was also mentioned before Cotto's fight with Clottey by Arum immediately after Pac's fight with Hatton.

The Marquez fight was being negotiated/rumored a month before Pac fought Hatton, it was officially announced before the Hatton fight by a few hours.

To be fair...this IS Mayweather's first fight out of retirement.

Yeah, it's against a lightweight whom he'll have nearly every physical advantage over. But it's also against a common opponent of Pacquiao, which to me, suggests that it is leading up to a fight with Pacquiao.

To be honest...I'd favor Floyd fighting an incredibly intelligent & skilled, albeit physically disadvantaged fighter like Marquez, as opposed to a tune-up fight with a tomatoe can welterweight.

    i'm ok with this.

It's the opposite for me. I would have preferred a tune-up fight against a lesser Welterweight. Size is the most unreasonable of advantages for me so I tend to look down on guys picking on smaller fighters even if they are really good smaller fighters. Personal preference I guess.

Plus, any outcome can be taken against Floyd. No matter how Floyd wins, a lot of people will say he won because of his size advantage, not his skill advantage (even if he really is more skilled).

Yeah, you're right, he is a ducker. That's why he only beat G. Hernandez, Vargas, Corrales, C. Hernandez, Chavez, Castillo x2, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De la Hoya, and Hatton right? I mean, those weren't good fighters, right? I guess he is only good for one thing. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

he's been doing that for like 2 years... why you think he didnt fight cotto earlier? or shane or magarito earlier?

floyd would have fought cotto too if he got past margarito but he never did... if cotto got past margarito he would have had to fight oscar & spank his ass.

then it woudl have been floyd vs cotto time

but since all 3 of them just beat the **** out of each other neither of them never made a strong right to have earned the right to fight floyd (which as much as some of you might want to disagree iwth the whole "earn the right to fight" thing , once you at the top thats how it is)

Just because he said doesn't mean he is going to do it. This is Floyd Mayweather we are talking about remember.

Then you need to learn more about Floyd Mayweather if you think he won't do it. If you started watching boxing when Mayweather was retired then I have to remind you that he had a career and one that started in 1996, not counting amateur.

Wow, people obviously dont get tired of the same threads over and over again.

The only person I would say PBF possibly ducked was Paul Williams but then I dont know how firm/good an offer was proposed to PBF and the loss to Quintana would have hurt his stock also.

    But

Mosely on live tv turned down his opportunity after being called out.
Cotto, well Arum nixed that one saying Cotto wasnt ready
    Clottey had lost to Marg
Marg was too similar to Baldomir which was a fight everyone complained about.Another slow hard chinned opponent that would have been beaten to the punch all night.

Dont really see where this idea of Floyd being a ducker comes from. Maybe he did cherry pick opponents but what champ doesnt to some extent. When your champ you choose who you fight. I think that is a general problem with the sport, not Floyd in particular.
