Ahh cheers man i was trying to remember that! haha before the fight wasnt chavez saying that greg makes him physically sick by the sight of him
Yeah that youtube clip is actually a snippet of the dvd, it just doesn't say. More or less the whole dvd is on there, but they're just labelled things like 'Kid Gavilan highlight' and stuff like that.
Fenian.. nice addition. Dan Donnelly was the Champion of the World I believe... in the Prize Ring days. His claimancy of Champ was no less than that of John L. There's a book about Donnely around that I wish to purchase. Quite a life he had. From memory he dropped dead after drinking a large volume of water following a ball sport of some descript?? His body later 'exumed' by medical students and the arm severed and preserved. Remaining in the 'Hide-out" pub in Kildaire all the while. I also heard the news that a large amount of boxing items were touring the USA... the arm included. Lets hope its returned safely to Ireland after the tour.
And rightly so, DQs are not defeats in my eyes unless your getting your ass whipped & you do it deliberately... I have a strange feeling this fight wasnt one of those kind.
there is also a monument in the curragh where he fought george cooper in 1815.the 37 footsteps donnelly took out of the natural amphitheatre have been set in concrete and the area has been renamed donnellys hollow.it is one of if not the only monument erected to commemorate a boxing match
Im familiar with the monument for funny purposes Fenian. Considering the age, the meaning and worthiness to one of Irelands finest.. there's also a slight lapse. The date of the historical event is also mis-quoted on one side of the monument. A close friend was at the site many years ago... he actually pointed out the scenario to a local guide. :good
