Superfights that were either very dull or didn't live up to the hype

he gave cotto hell but it slipped through his fingers. the scores were off only a round or 2 either way.

anyone seen Norris-Vaden it was a pretty big unification fight with vaden looking to become a elite fighter in the years to come he fought norris who was world champ and high in most lists but still looked vulnarable.

foil for each other so to speak both had the similar puncher-swarmer type style. handspeed, power, ego's. vaden rhymed over a marley marl instrumental before the fight and added to the feud then norris had a hidden brawl with chavez which got hyped behind closed doors...point was this was 2 prime fighters looking to become the man of their division. the build up was pretty big form my recording of it.

then the introductions finished the seconds were called out then.....:blood nothing. actually nothing. i dont think anything but 10 jabs between them landed. slow round was the thoughts. point was that norris was dancing and moving while vaden didnt want to come foreward and sacrifice his hieght. i.e. stalemate. looking back on it norris did a great technical job on him, vaden looked totally outclassed and outhustled. great shoulder movements as well and a great fient that had vaden stumbling. norris coming in slipping the 4 hit combo that vad threw and did > :smooch

good showing for norris in technical ability for a historian standpoint but a dull night and one sided.

yeah, for all the ppvs this guy sold, he was kind of boring fighter. especially the way he ran from trinidad, that was just pathetic.

Im so glad someone else said this. People used to call me crazy. He had a few good ones, like the Mosley fights, Quartey and a few others. But his stinkers against Whittaker and Trinidad stick out more in my mind.

Romero-Tapia, while not a megafight when compared to some of the others mentioned here, wasn't that great either, except for an electric 1st round. After that, Johnny just settled in and boxed him silly. I was really looking forward to this one.

I actually wouldn't even call the Mosley rematch or Quartey fight good. The Quartey bout had 2 exciting rounds and 10 rounds of posing.

The Vargas fight, however, I thought that was a terrific fight. That was one of the best "superfights" of this decade.

Yep that definitely delivered. Humble pie served piping hot.

Almost good enough to make one forget the pile of garbage he put on against B hop.

Hopkins-DLH & Mayweather-DLH were good fights, the FMJ one being better... I agree with the rest of your list.

I know I will be a lone voice here ,but I did not find Duran's mastery of Leonard in their first fight particulalry entertaining.
Obviously it was a monster win and he fought a tactically brilliant fight[which Leonard did not],but it didnt grip me as other fights have.
As I say Im decidedly in the minority Im sure. But better to be honest
