I too feel Cotto will win, and in impressive fashion. I'm convinced most fans are a bit brain washed by the optical illusion they saw a couple of weeks ago. What most fans fail to absorb is that Cotto was facing defensive minded WW champion with a proven rock solid beard yet pulled out a less than esthetically pleasing victorty that only further portrayed his ability box, counter and persevere through adversity. It was clear from round one Cotto's game plan vs clotty was to give the sometimes lunging clotty angles, time his attacks and counter. Cotto's gash caused him to impliment a much less effective game plan that ultimately allowed him to fight on though not without some dominating clotty rounds. Again not to get into deep analysis conventional wisdom tells me this is a classic case of an super talented slightly smaller man going up against a technically sound, battle tested slightly bigger man that possesses pac's biggest kryptonite an excellent jab and counter punch. I take nothing away from pac and I can surely see him pulling off a win because he is an anomoly. Cotto has proven speed and super reflexes do not hinder his ability to connect his jab and he will connect his jab with impunity. I'm on a flawless streak this year I'm hoping I can end it with a bang as I have the bet placed already the only friend of mine that is picking cotto as well is an ex bantam weight champ named Joe "snake" Ingrasami...how strange lol!
It's just my analysis dude. I'm not a fortune teller. I may be wrong or I may be right. We are just going to have to wait and see.
Your analysis is not so deep at all, amigo. It is based on perception which is not reliable at all. All I can say is that this is a competitive fight between provenly great and courageous gladiators.
I think Cotto is more versatile in his defensive capabilities although he has certain deficiencies in his armor. Pac's defense is his offense. He does that herky-jerky side movement and dips under punches from time to time but i think Cotto has more tools in that department. If you get hit constantly with enough force in certain part of the body you will see damage. DLH couldn't much do anything in that fight. when you juxtapose DLH's lethargy with Pac's activity than he will seem that much faster. I just feel that he is not as fast as he was in the lower weight classes although his speed is better than most.
Yes unless cotto is shot to pecies (which I don't think he is) he wins this bout hand down. I will go out on a limb and perdict that the only way pac wins this fight is if lands a shocking blow that cotto does not see and ends it by ko.
I think that Pac landing something big is a possibility. However, Cotto goes forward and he is not one to leap forward and leave himself exposed. DLh and Diaz were basically sedentary targets, in a sense. Cotto should he start to feel overwhelmed he will fight of the back foot and adjust. Although Manny can be a whirlwind his attacks are in speedy spurts and not sustained and constant pressure ala Margarito; that is unless you are going to sit there like Diaz/ DLH so he can tee off which as I stated Cotto wont do.
How can you say his analysis is not deep at all when you wrote only 2 sentences as a rebuttal?atsch I liked what the thread starter had to say. Its a very decent analysis but he's missing some things that are going to play in on the fight. the deep cut, cotto's chin, cotto's questionable punch resistance (Clottey and Mag *** weren't going to capitalize on Cotto's shaky chin) and the biggest factor: lack of a trainer. I predict his trainer will be Manny Steward. The guy has watched every pac fight. He knows pac's pac as a fighter up close and will be able to capitalize on pac's flaws. Will he or any trainer be good enough to make a game plan against Pac? remains to be seen.
What you smoking on Confucius??!?!?!?! I want me some cuz your analysis is exactly the way I see it but you also seem high....:hey
Not necessarily true because if Cotto wins you know that the immediate rematch will be highly likely as they are both promoted by Arum and Arum stands to make more money by to of his biggest stable fighters fighting again.
Dude you didn't even know that Mosley fought at lightweight so your sarcastic humor needs to find itself out of my threads.
