What can we expect for ESPN UK?

The campaign that is currently underway will hopefully catch their attention. In short- if they get boxing as well as the prem I'm subscribing, if it's just the footy then forget it. I'm confident a lot of others feel the same way as well. They best come up with some sort of ESPN UK mission statement soon just so we're in the loop.

 

I have seen they are after the rights for ufc and the indian premier league cricket. I am sure they will have boxing on, hopefully they will get a uk promoter eg: Hayemaker or Hennesey and plenty of american fights.

 

Trust me mate we will be! It would send a message of intent if we crashed their website wouldn't it!

If they show boxing on top of the football them i'm definately subscribing. Hopefully they can get ufc as well.

 

They can't just focus on football guys because short term they can't get enough games. Sky have the vast majority of premiership football wrapped up. It is going to be 4 years before that can change. Short term they have to focus on what is available and the beauty of boxing is that they can get straight in at a high level. Haye is available now. Froch shortly. They could get Cotto-Pacquaio kind of fights straight away. I think short term they have to look at boxing in the same way as Setanta did.

 

If they get enough sport they'll have to open up 2 channels.

 

:goodYep. Hennessey Sports, Hayemaker Promotions, Top Rank and Sauerland are not attached to any station in the UK at this point in time. They'd be foolish not to capitalise now.

 

well they will have espn friday night fights which usually show very decent fights every fiday night, usually prospects that are up and coming and havent reached world title level yet

hopefully they show these live, they need other bigger fights tho to get my tenner a month

 

As long as I can get ESPN on a old skydigibox with a lapsed sky subscription, and they show boxing and basketball (not bothered about footie) and its a reasonable price (£10 p/m), then I'll subscribe.

I think they will get whatever rights they can expect them to get FA Cup games that Setanta lost aswell. Boxing will be a must have for ESPN look at the top fights they could get and they have no competition. Get Hayes fights aswell and his fighters and I will sign up stright away need them to show boxing for me to sign up.
