Mike tyson threw power punches in combination form...heavy duty knock out punches. Ali and patterson did not do this...they threw combinations..to set up their power punches.
Tyson has great handspeed to go along with some of the best upper body & head movement I've ever seen.
I'm not agreeing that Tyson's speed was overrated but that video of him shadowboxing looks like he's going way faster than he actually is with the sounds he makes.
Ithinkthat his relativlyshort arms helped him with his speed. The punches didn't have to travel very far to get where they were going.
I think if anything tyson is underrated in every category......he had a short prime, and all the outside of the ring issues, just ruined his prime.... tyson is one of the most underrated ATG in history......IMO prime tyson would brutally KO ali, but thats just me....
The combo of speed AND power is unmatched and that's what made Tyson. No heavyweight can punch as fast AND as hard as Tyson.
