Frankly all of this is taking the **** and is a perfect example of why boxing isn't as mainstream as it once was. It's the only fight at 160 out there for the pair of them- **** Stum, he's probably got a few more hand-picked opponents due. Boxing politics strike again.:-(

Wait for Pavlik fans to charge in now and give you an essay about how Abraham needs to be more popular in the US.

And according to the article Pavlik signed a two fight deal with HBO. Not helpful to be signed with the competitor is it? Arum has said that Sturm was being more reasonable in negotiations all along. Froch would be a good choice if Kelly decides now is the time to move to SMW and if Froch still has his title at that time.

We all know that HBO has been pretty tight on fights lately. AA's fight with Simon probably didn't help his chances there one bit.

And Kelly PERSONALLY pulled the plug on Mora. :deal

I believe he SAID that but Arum doesn't want Pavlik fighting Abraham either. Of course he's gonna make the FAR less dangerous fighter sound professional and easier to work with; he needs an excuse to avoid Abraham to. Now he can make the excuse Abraham demanded too much, Sturm was the better deal, blah blah and that's why he dodged him. If he said Abraham was easier to work with well then why hasn't the fight happened:huh

Boxing politics, money, etc. At the end of the day, if Pavlik, as the undisputed (he's pushing it though) champion wants the fight, Pavlik will get the fight. Obviously he doesn't want it THAT much. And i don't blame him.

Yeah they always pull that stupid comment out of the bag even though AA brings German money to the table.

Where the f did you come up with that? I have never heard anything about TR wanting Abraham to join them as part of any deal.

And just because HBO wants the fight, doesn't mean they will put up the cash the fighters think they deserve.

Pavlik wants the fight. There is a champ in the division. His name I Kelly Pavlik. It doesn't sound like Abraham is willing to take the challengers cut. 70/30. He thinks the vacated belt he picked up makes him a 'champ'. At this point he is pricing himself out.

According to a poster here that may be part of the problem. Saurland doesn't want to put that money on the table because it is part of a 'pool' of money he gets to stage X number of fights per year. Sounds like he doesn't want to dip into that pool to pay his own fighter. So the deal as I understand it is AA wants $1.5 mill + not put the German money into the equation. Because of the way it is structured there is no real way to put a dollar amount on the German TV money so Saurland can pretty much claim anything he wants. He was prepared to offer Sturm over $3 million though. A fight with Kelly would be less? :patsch

WTF kind of logic do you use to turn this into Arum is courting AA to joining TR. The rest of your logic follows pretty much the same. Yeah, AA wants the fight ON HIS TERMS because it is a career payday and Saurland even without Saurland contributing to the purse. If they offered Sturm over $3 mill AA would have made the same. Let Saurland throw that $6 mill into the pot and take a 70/30 challengers split. THEN I will believe they are serious. Until then, it is Saurland playing the media and people like you buying it.

This is an obvious match to make, have to get it done before the ut grow the division.

I think Abrahams durability win it for him. AA TKO.

Abraham has outgrown the division already unless he rededicates himself. Maybe today's fight will tell. I doubt it given the choice of opponent.

Unless he does rededicate himself, he has no durability at 160 and this fight is really just about money for him.
