Teddy's just going to get in there and showboat in between rounds. He'll be asking Povetkin if he "has enough heart," and talking about "those times in a man's life when he has to stand up and..." All of it is just to make Teddy look good to the crowd. I can imagine a guy like him, even though he knows a lot, hurting a fighter more than he helps.

Nailed it. Teddy is all about Teddy. He is one of the most overrated trainers and boxing minds out there today. He is so fond of breaking down a fighter to build them back in the image he wants. This is a terrible move for Povetkin. Belov is a great trainer, and has molded many different types of fighters, including the great Kostya Tszyu. Povetkin doesn't need this and I hope he doesn't work with Atlas.

Wald's "problem" is he is just too good for the current competition. Who has made him fight differently? (Haye potentially, but that would only get him KTFO sooner) Only guy in boxing I know of that gets criticized for the effective use of his jab. How many times do we hear commentators berating a fighter for not using it? Yet Wald? :patsch

Looks like Povetkin's people are starting to look at reality. I could see them pulling Povetkin out here. After watching Povetkin against Estrada agian, he looked slower and more hittable than before.

And as focused and dominating as Wlad is right now, I can only see Povetkin taking a royal ass whipping.

Does Wlad know what Atlas says about him? It could some great bulletin board material against Povetkin...:yep:hi:

To be fair Povs has been asking for Wlad since the beginning of his career. I think they'll still go through with the fight, I just wouldn't be surprised if they crammed as much added fights in there as possible.

And I don't think Wlad cares about Atlas. He doesn't have that mosquitoe style annoyance that a certain British HW carries.

Well, if he does he handles it the right way and goes out and makes Atlas look like a fool for picking against him. What sweeter revenge could he possibly extract? Atlas has two main problems with his picks as I see it. The first is his bias. The second is he thinks he is smarter than he is and over analyzes things. He wants to look good by picking against the conventional wisdom and being right. The problem for him is that it doesn't happen very often and forums like this one keep score.

Not necessarily. Atlas will simply nod his head, give half assed respect to Wlad and move onto the next one.

There really is no shutting Teddy Atlas up on this one. He doesn't like Thbe Klitschkos and he's not afraid to consistently show it. That's fine if you're a fan of the sport but as an "objective analyst" there really coomes a time where your bias has to go to sleep.

thanks for the post BIGCAT. i always had a bad feeling about teddy's view of "fighter psychology". i think we all like freddy roaches style. he seems to game plans and work on boxing without all the pop psychology bull****. i like teddy at ringside for fnf, breaking down whats happening in the ring but he seems like poison to a fighter he's training. his record with heavies he's trained, and the way they seem to behave AFTER there time with him is really poor.where is kirk johnson anyway?

Thats exact the impression i got from Atlas over the years. He is all about himself, hardly has to say anything good about anyone, and his predictions are about whom he wants to win, not who will probably win. I would be surprised if he hasnt anything negative to say about Povetkin, may it be before, during or after the fight with Klitschko.

If Wlad-Povetkin happen this year, Povetkin will be totally and utterly destroyed.
