Why would Povetkin's people want a guy who hates Eastern Europeans in there?

I like Povetkin style of fighting but he just not have the physical tools beat Wladimir and nothing Atlas can do can change that:-(

Yup. Against other Eastern European fighters ala Lyhakovich vs. Valuev. If you take a look at their track record against American fighters you will see that it is completely one-sided in favor of the old Iron Curtain.

    It is...interesting.

I think Atlas is a good trainer. But I'm not sure he's the right guy for Povetkin, an extremely seasoned amateur.

That being said, if you are fighting Klitschko, you are bound to get discouraged...and Atlas is probably a good guy in your corner to give you **** when you aren't putting enough effort in there.

i dont think atlas is biased at all when he is talking about wlad. The fact is he is objective he says wlad has a good jab and right hand and controls distance very well but he cant fight inside . He is right anyone who knows anything about boxing can see wlad no is more than a decent fighter . he is very one dimensional . He uses his height and reach very well but he does not posses great talent or boxing skills . He is no where near the technician that ali or holmes were . also they were a lot heavyweights in the 80's and 90's such as bowe, tony tubbs, tim witherspoon , tony tucker, greg page who were infinitely more talented than him .

You have right info. I wish Grant and others had guts to say it on television. Atlas used to scare guys with fake tough guy rep, and real gangster connections. Now he has power as broadcaster.

YOu summed Atlas up perfectly, I hope people take noticve of the part "Heighten his own profile" It's what he's done, and what he'll do here.

Add Elvir Murqui to guys who hate Atlas. Only one not afraid to speak out is Donny La Londe.

When you are 0-99 on fight predictions, it's time to makes some changes.
    Povetkin is in big trouble.

Who was the last fighter Atlas worked with? I have not seen him in the corner in any big fight for the last few years. Doesn't he just make comments for ESPN?

Titty At-l-ASS trained Grant, said that Grant would become world champion! LOL! Atlas also trained Kirk Johnson, predicted that Johnson would knock Vitali out with on punch! LOL! Vitali knocked Johnson at MSG in 2nd round! LOL!
