Im not sure but he was the ''man'' at 140 so that counts for something but id say it was because of his massive popularity and huge fanbase. Also being the main man at 140 and with Pacman moving up in weight meant for great business and also a great fight at the time.

Sure why not? Unless you have that ******ed Mayweather / Calzaghe mentality ' who is he? why does he get mentioned in the same breath as me? he already has x amount of losses why should I give him another?
why should I care if you are a reporter asking simeple questions and fans want to see me exceed expectations!!! I only expect money !!
Why is no one listening to me ?!?! '

I think there are lots of boxers at 140 that can give Hatton a very tough fight (Bradley, Kotelnik, Maidana, Campbell, Guzman, Ortiz, Torres, Bailey, Witter, Khan, etc.)... In terms of fanbase, Hatton is way ahead...

This is an absurd statement. You are implying #1 P4P guys wouldn't consider an undeserving fighter as an opponent. What on earth are you basing that on?

I think he deserves them and more. He is helping carry the sport atm. They should let him pick all his opponents, what gloves they wear, the refs, the judges, the other fighters trainer, etc, etc. This guy could lose 10 fights in a row by vicious 1st round KO and his legion of drunken fans would insist they were just "off-nights" and continue to fly all over the world while constantly chanting and paying top dollar no matter what. Let him do as he pleases!

Indeed... Hatton has a large number of unbelievable believers or fans... Imagine 30,000 of them flying from UK to Vegas to see Hatton KO'ed cold... Hats off to Hatton's legion of true believers and loyal fans...

I'm guessing all of them will continue patronizing Hatton and fill the stadium when Hatton fight Steve Forbes next in UK...

Hey, everyone has its own beliefs ...

Yea - Against mayweather he was undefeated and considered one of the best boxer in the world at the time.

Against Pacquiao he was still the jr welterweight champion and the # 1 boxer at 140 lbs.

I dont think Ricky Hatton deserved to step into the ring against either FM JR or MP. But, at the end of day, its money, money, money. And Hatton sells tickets and PPV. that is the single reason he was given any chances. And look what happened to him. He was used. He was nearly decapitated by MP, and FM Jr made him look a fool. I mean he bounced the mans head of the turn buckle like it was WWE.
