    Looks like this fight might not happen after all as it's being reported that HBO won't offer more than $2million. It's funny because they also mention that they offered $3.5million to make Tarver vs Dawson II. No links to the news can be provided, do some search and it should be easy to find.

    If a Sturm fight, which I believe is a VERY interesting fight, is not going to happen what does that leave for Pavlik?, are HBO indirectly telling team Pavlik that they're more interested in an Abraham fight?. If they're not offering much for a Sturm fight who else is there at middleweight for them to agree on a better offer?, Abraham and Sturm are the only two big names there for Pavlik.

    Thoughts?

    This whole situation in middlweight sux. Thats my opinion about that. Its a joke Abraham - Pavlik is not beeing made already. I agree with you that Pavlik - Sturm would be an interesting fight, cause Sturm looked good recently, i think he could really frustrate Pavlik with his style.

    Only one fight out there now. Just make the fight, Bob. Abraham deserves his big fight. Also the fans wanna see it.

    I did. Didn't expect HBO to show no interest especially when Sturm fought in the US and against DLH so he's not completely unknown.

    HBO probably thinks that Felix Storm would beat Kelly Pavlik, and that would kill the Pavlik-Abraham unification fight (which would make tons of money). Sturm has repeatedly refused to fight Abraham, so HBO does not want the Pavlik's title to fall into Sturm's hands.

    Apart from Abraham, the only other opponents I could see HBO being interested in are Paul Williams or a SMW like Froch.

    I reckon Pavlik-Froch would be a great fight but, once again, there would probably be no titles on the line. World titles don't seem to mean as much as they used to but the Pavlik situation is in danger of becomming a farce if he doesn't defend the titles more often. It is a bit hypocritical of HBO if they continue to promote Pavlik as the man at 160 without giving him any encouragement to actually face any real challengers.

    Hopefully he will fight Abraham, Strum or Williams soon but it's hope rather than expectation that he will.

    sturm isnt a complete joke like some think, but he won't beat pavlik and i doubt HBO thinks that either :nono the fact that HBO doesnt want to pay 3 million plus for a fight featuring a paper champion who doesnt like leaving germany makes a little more sense than to say that sturm will beat pav

    edited to say he doesnt like leaving germany

    Yeah, if true, I think HBO is pretty much saying we're not interested to pay real money unless its against Abraham.

    HBO $ 2 million or $ 2.5 million + ARD € 0.3 or € 0.5 million --> no Pavlik/Abraham fight

    I don't think HBO will pay significantly more for Pavlik/Abraham than for Pavlik/Sturm.

    Err, Sturm featured in one of the most well known boxing robberies when fighting outside Germany. Did you miss it?

    I'm sure they will, they know this is the fight the public want and if they don't pay enough for this then what will they pay for?, not like Pavlik has too many options.
